  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Question about an employee.

I’m sorry I don’t understand. You asked me several questions which I answered. What else can I do for you?

Is she, like, really popular?
As a supervisor for many years, I recommend that you hold her accountable. If you let her get away with one thing that she should be doing that she is not doing, she will not only take advantage of you more and more, the other employees will not have respect for you and they may begin complaining to you about her nonstop. Check with HR to find out what they recommend you can do and not do or say. These days, you gotta be careful. Especially don't promote her unless she deserves it. Basically, have a serious meeting with her and provide her with a list of her good points and points she needs to work on BEFORE she can be promoted. At the end of each week, have an update meeting with her to see if she is improving. But, honestly there are so many children in this generation who didn't have discipline and structure from their parents growing up, you as a supervisor, can only do so much. I have a lady that works for me and she is late every day. No matter how much I scold her and warn her, she still shows up late. Her parents spoiled her growing up. We need her because when she's at work, she does a good job. Some people you just can't improve. Best to let them go.
