I am filled with such a thirst- an unquenchable thirst it feels- for God. It is painful how badly I wish to be with Him! It seems that nothing I do can keep me close enough to Him. My desire to be completely devouted to Him seems to me impossible to fulfill here on earth. I don't know what is I can do- I want to live my life devoutly, but how do I do that? What does it consist of?

Sister V:

Your post reminds me of this Psalm:

As a deer longs for flowing streams,
so my soul longs for you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When shall I come and behold the face of God? (42:1-2)

I've read about "thirsting for God" in this Psalm but have not met anyone first hand who has the thirst. As God quenches your thirst with the flowing water of His Holy Spirit, please share with me so that I might thirst God with the same thirst.

I will remember you in my prayers.

Oh, I know what you mean! I thirst also. There was one time, a long time ago, that I was thirsting for God in my life... to walk in his presence. (much like I do now). But I began to feel filled. What I think happened, was that I stayed in touch with the Lord constantly. Music, singing, reading the bible, journaling prayers. All through my day, I'd ask "What would you have me do? How would You have me react?" I sang songs like "Fill my cup" and "Holy Spirit Come". And I sang them meaningfully. The sad thing is that I didn't realize that I was beginning to be filled, until I got too busy to sit in His presence anymore. Now I can see how real God was to me then. Now I am working on getting that relationship back. Isn't God so good to us, that he always stands there with open arms when we open our hearts? He always meets us right where we are. Praise the Lord!
