Quarreling note

2 Timothy 2

Let's remember this as we "argue and debate" here.

14...Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen.
15Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
16Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
17Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18who have wandered away from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place [preterism?], and they destroy the faith of some.
23Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.
24And the Lord's servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.
25Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

Hmmm...It seems like you are the one posting all the contraversial and volatile threads here Andrew. Are you saying that if we were nice Christians, we would just agree with you out of love for God and each other?

I wonder if God didn't lay these verses on your heart for your own edification!

It may be controversial to you but not to others.

and . . .being controversial does not mean we should be rude, accusatory, or mean to one another. Being controversial means you dissagree with it but does not mean that you may not be wrong.  We need to reason the scriptures, not slap each other with it.

Prov 18:13 says "He who answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame him". 

I have found that most people who are against some of the things Andrew and others have said, responded with things that made it appear as if they had not really read what he said.  They read maybe the first paragraph and then responded.

It's amazing how many scriptures I have seen quoted to back up a belief and then the person coming behind says, "you've given no scripture".

I have a friend who attended a church meeting with another friend.  At the end of the service as they were leaving, the one person, said, "they did not teach any of the Word, all they talked about was blah, blah, blah.  My friend looked down at her notebook and said "I have 2 pages full of scrupture ref, what are you talking about?"  Go figure!

argue? don't we do that all the time um? we all hold different opinions on things..
besides, arguing sometimes help, if we did it politely and listened to others' points (really listen and consider them).

what did Paul say about what creates arguements and quarrels? wasnt it about stuff inside a person?...anybody find that scripture please post it, in fact I might just bring this up at group tonite, now wheres that scripture?????

One point of note, from Paul... "I hear there are arguments and disputes among you, and to some extent I believe it, for this is necessary to show what is approved of God." (or words to that effect)
