It's problem guys. It's a problem because I said no thanks, It's a problem with respect when you have someone who is already at a church on Sunday to hear the message about God. To find his windshield clutered with tracks and a 7 or 8 inch stretch in the hood of car from some clown with a clipboard full of tracts drops the board on the car. Or someone finds a greasey hand print on his window. It's a problem when the person has put a sun shield in the windshield with three inch letters asking not to put said tracks there. If I didn't want them on the window I sure don't want them on the front seat or the floor of my car. It a problem when someone trys to force one in my hand and I don't want it. It's problem when I ask the track person what does it say and he stamer around not knowing an answer to give me. When a simple asnwer John 3:16 would really work. It's a real problem when I hand it back to the person and i tell them that i can't read it because I'm dyslexic and they pull and attitude. So please if someone puts a sign in the wind of their car that can be read 30 ft away saying they don't want your tracks please be a good witness and not force it on them

christians should be respectful of you. Pulling an attitude when you tell them something doesn't sound right... and they put a "greasy hand print" on your window?

Yes they do it's from the glaze donut they been eating. I have coffee, hot chocolite spill I had to clean up off my window I hve had coffee rings left on the roof of the car i had a full coffee cup holding down the track on my hood.
that does sound disrespectful, the way you are describing.

well, I hope things work out better as you continue going to church, even if it isn't that one? ... I'll be praying for those people, if they want to witness for God, they seem to be needing some more sensitivity and wisdom so it seems

If you want people to be receptive to literature? Don't litter all over their cars or front porches. Instead, give them something they need and they will be glad to receive the literature. When I was involved with a ministry to feed the homeless in a large metropolitan area, we'd spend all morning making big sack lunches to take to them -- 2 sandwiches each plus snacks and other goodies -- and one of the things I started doing when I started participating was getting short Christian books and Bible tracts to put in the sack lunches. We also had stacks of paperback Bibles and books to give away. The homeless folks went nuts for these, almost as much as they went nuts over the extra foodstuffs, shaving/soap kits, tooth-care kits, etc. that we put together for them. Why? Well maybe because we were there meeting very real-world needs for them at that moment, and it opened them up to a willingness to see what it was we believed. Ya think?

Evangelism or witnessing without the personal touch is not evangelism or witnessing at all. People without a solid Holy Spirit filled community of loving disciples to get grounded into could bounce and flail and stumble and flounder for YEARS. Few come out of the Heavenly womb (so to speak) as full-fledged, independent, spiritual giants .... what's gonna happen when they read those tracts and want to give their lives to Christ and have no clue where to get started? .................

Hm. This thread seems to have a lot of combativeness on both sides of the issue. The people who support the use of tracts are calling the other people narrowminded, and the people against the use of tracts are saying that tract-using people are disrespectful.

Come on. We're all Christians here. And our goal is the same: to see people saved.

Personally, I feel that the tract-supporters should keep an open mind to how people on the receiving end feel. If our point is to see people come to Jesus, how is littering on their car going to help our cause? (If indeed that is how people on the receiving end see it.)

If unbelievers already have a negative idea of "evangelicals," then how is annoying them going to show the Truth of Christ's LOVE?

Well If we are going to stop, because I few may be offended, then we may as well sit in our chair in front of TV and wait for someone to walk up to us and ask us about Jesus....
Do you have a loved one or a friend who you wish to be saved? How do you think they will hear? By seeing you helping those who are less fortunate (you can be non-christian and help others)? [Romans 10]

I apologize that someone may be offended by a tract (piece of paper that that shares the truth of salvation)... how else will they hear or know what they need to know if we are all waiting for some feeling when we have been commanded to go out into all of the world and preach?... some say it is not their calling (I would suggest you reread your Bible; all are called).

So when it comes down to it I guess I have no problem offending mankind by sharing the truth. For the worst they can do to me is kill me... For if I offend God he can kill me AND send to hell...

For the record, I support the use of tracts, and I also use them myself. I do not believe I was calling other people narrowminded who are not supportive of tracts. I believe God can have different ways for all His children to evangelize, they just need to keep accountable to Him. The body of Christ is made of different parts the bible says.

I believe there is also appropriateness to consider, some tracts are not good, but there are many tasteful gospel tracts. world missionary press (www.worldmissionarypress.org has free scripture booklets distributed all over the world, they are very nicely done, I also like many of Living Waters tracts.

I have to be honest, there are days when the same thing blesses me that sometimes offends me. It would be nice if we could find a formula for the perfect way of conveying the message of redemption, but it will never be that simple, and probably shouldn't.

Just pray that you can bless someone in what you are doing... then take the risks you feel God is asking you to take.

I have read my Bible. As for your comment about all being called to go out into all the world and preach the Gospel, well, you quoted my message before saying that. Was that comment directed toward me? I am a missionary working at a church in Japan. :)

God bless.

If I could steer things back on-topic a little more, the thread was ingard not to tracts themselves, but leaving them on cars.

Think about it. How often do you yourselves read the stuff that's stuck to your car window? Most people I know don't even notice something, unless you approach your car from the front, until they've already got in and sat down in their car. When they finally see something obstructing their view, they find it annoying to have to open their door, get up and get that trash off their window. Most people would just rip them off, crumple them and throw them away without even knowing what it's about.

Please keep this thread on-topic. The original poster, IbanezUser, wanted to know if it is legal to "put Gospel Tracts in Mailboxes and on top of Car windows."

2.8 No Off-Topic

in the USA, you can put them in mailboxes if you pay the postage and have proper addressing

but you cannot just stick them into the mailboxes if you don't put a stamp on them and address them. it is a law

for car windows, I think most parking lots of places will consider that solicitation (and private property businesses can make that kind of rule if they want). so unless it is at like a public park, probably will get in trouble or yelled at

One thing to keep in mind.
What is Solicitation?
I have been told to leave Malls and Mall Parking lots because they said I was soliciting. I was not soliciting. I was handing a gospel tract or leaving a gospel tract behind. Which, according to the Courts you can do, its called flyering, where people place flyers. Many will say that is private property such as a mall and mall parking lot, to which the court says, it is private property however when you open your doors to the public you can not discriminate, and placing flyers are talking to someone in parking lot is legal. It is not solicitation as many claim (need to look up soliciting).
And Yes we must respect the law but when the law does not respect us and tries to take away our rights we must speak up (legally).
It is amazing what people trully understand about the law. We had a lady in charge of this festival telling us we could not hand out religious stuff on the sidewalks and she let us she would have to let the satanist, wiccans, etc... and she did not want that, and that she had a permit that in essence 'made the street private for the duration of the festival' and the police did not correct her.... thought it was very interesxting and thought the public would find it interesting that she says she can do that (she can't).
so know your rights

Let tell you a little story. In a small town near by they were having an Art fair it was about 90-95 out thus being that warm you had a chance of getting sick from the heat. At the time I had boardshorts on. But what this local chrch did was set up outside shower (you know a hoses with nozzles on it so you could turn on the water to cool off. There was also a big old tin with ice and bottled water. On these water bottles was a tract written in simple easy to read trac lamanated in plastic on each bottle. In all the time I was there I didn't find a trac on the ground, they were gladly taken. (fullfilling a need)

Now on the other side of town was a church of equal size they too were hand out tracts but tracts only I took one of those to look at. In fact I sat on there front lawn for a minute and was told to move alongthe sad thing was that the tract was one they had made up and the print was this size and it was single spaced and on an 8 by 10 sheet of paper It was very hard to read

In all I think you need to understand what is welcome and what is not
