Pray the hardest prayer you'll probably ever have to pray... "God, whatever it is in my life that holds me back from You, take it away." God will keep you accountable to that prayer and you have to be willing to hear His voice and feel His tug on your heart. It's extremely hard... I've been there, but if you're committed to what God's will really is for your life, God is faithful and He is going to do what you have asked of Him... just be alert and obedient if He calls out for the things that matter most to you... He knows what He's doing. ;)

Gosh Katty....you know that prayer scares the heck out of me. I'm going to have to pray for the strength to pray that prayer. I really wish that I had at least one really good Christian friend. All of my friends say "yeah, we believe in God", but it ends there. Where I stand now, I'm basically alone in my faith. No one to support me spiritually but God himself. Maybe it's best that way....I don't know.

How wonderful that you've determined to make God the center of your life! I think its important to realize that doing so is a lifelong process. The other suggestions made here are excellent, and they can help you a great deal. But, don't expect this to happen tomorrow, or the next day, or even the next year. Pretty much it happens choice by choice, lesson by lesson. As long as you have the desire to do this (even if its very small and you mess up at times), God will honor that.

I'm really big into writing, so today I picked up a journal specifically for writing letters to God. Maybe that sounds cheesy to some of you, but it's been working wonders for me in terms of revealing my shortcomings in my walk with the lord.
i have a prayer journal. its how i pray at night every night.

I agree there's something very powerful about writing your prayers down and looking them over once in awhile. I had some pretty big wake-up calls in my life these last few years and it was a big shocker. I learned how much I NEED God in my life, and that I can't put anything else in this world before Him. Even though I considered myself a seriously spiritual person, I realized that I wasn't really putting God first in my life as much as I thought I was. I don't ever want to get to the point again where I put something or someone else first and then realize in a big 'wakeup' that I am missing Him.

It's okay to write letters to God instead of talking to Him out loud? Really? Because it's mor comfortable for me to write my thoughts than it is to talk about them, because to be honest, I'm terrible at getting my points out with my mouth.

It is really nice to read them over every once in awhile..

I totally agree Brooke. I think I'm able to be more honest with God when I'm writing too. I can write about the most personal of things...things that I've told only one person about and have faith that God will take over. Of course I do always have a slight fear that someone in my house will snatch up my prayer journal and read it which they have no business doing, but privacy is never a sure thing.

Ooo...I feel for you Brooke. One time my mom read my diary (it was like when I was 8 but still). Although the most exciting thing in there was probablly how I had got chosen as offical chalkboard cleaner for the week I still felt violated. And so now Im a little paranoid that the wrong person might read my journal, prayers thoughts whatever. Thanks a lot mom.

Also, when I write in a journal I automatically find myself censoring whatever I write. I like praying out loud better because it gets me more in the mood of it.

You have to pray hard and continually!!! Whenever you feel yourself making something else the center of your life - even if it's you - stop whatever you're doing and pray. Keep giving it to God as much as you have to. Eventually you will nottice that it is not so hard anymore. However it is something that will always take a lot of prayer - sometimes more than others. God bless you on your endevours to serve him!!
