  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So this is for the ladies and gents... What kind of purses and man bags do you like? :D

I didn't want to leave the men out of this thread. I know some of you have GOT to be styling some chic man bag, it can even be a brief case. Or computer bag. Something. I know you have something. :p

But yeah, also ladies what kind of purse do you like? Clutch? A purse that can fit your whole house? Do tell!

I looked yesterday for some sort of over-the-shoulder bag to be able to take some things to work but didn't find anything I liked. Either too formal or too casual. I like to dress smart casual, so there isn't really anything I found in that in-between.

I do have an HP computer bag for carrying my computer around, which was a gift from my sister-in-law. My current laptop doesn't really fit in it lol, but my last one did.

It's not exactly stylin', but it's sufficient:

Growing up I never cared about purses, but now I have one that I use when I need to take things with me when I go places. It's got a strap so you can put it over your shoulder, and I think it's about medium size. That's pretty much the kind of purse I like too - I like ones with pretty colors too. :)

When I was university I loved hanging tote bags. They could carry everything I needed AND the kitchen sink.

But now my go to everyday purse is usually a smaller black crossbody. I like to have my hands free when I'm out, and hate the feeling of my purse slipping off my shoulder.

To be honest, I really hate carrying a purse and will find any way I can to not bring one with me when I'm out if it's at all possible. I don't dislike purses in general, it's just the added item to carry on my person while shopping or whatever that annoys me. Back pockets on jeans are such life-savers for me. Those and zippered pockets on light jackets.

If I'm going to select a purse, something like this typically catches my eye.

Yeah I'm definitely the same way, I use to have a crossbody purse as well, but I wore it out. So now I just use a phone holder that I put my phone and money and ID in, and it hangs from my seatbelt on my chair.

If I did more things and went more places I might invest in a handier purse and more stylish one but for now this works for me.

But yeah I need/want my hands free as well and can't stand when the strap tries to fall off my shoulder. Lol

Since I started nursing and had to carry everything I needed in pockets, I found that I'd often forget that I had a purse to keep track of, so I usually don't carry one. What I need to carry goes in my pockets (or my bra).

I do have purses and tend to prefer leather over-the-shoulder medium sized bags. Preferred brands are Stone Mountain and Stone & Company. I never pay new prices but find ones that are basically new at thrift stores. I like the leather color to coordinate or match my shoes.

My daughter has a cute little Vera Bradley wallet/phone holder that she wears on a around the neck strap with her keys. She can hide it in her sports bags easily as needed.

For everyday use, I like a small to medium sized purse with a strap. I tend to use the same one daily for months or in some cases a year or so depending on the quality. I had one purse that seemed indestructable, lol. For dressing up I have an assortment of small clutches. I tend to not spend a lot on my purses, but I have one special leather purse from Italy that I only wear on very special occasions :)

I love Vera Bradley and have a matching purse and wallet. The only thing
that bugs me is the purse handle is getting a little worn.

My girl really loves Vera Bradley too. I bought her a bag from that store last year. She loved it so it was all worth it, lol, but my gracious was it expensive for a bag! I checked inside, thinking maybe it was lined with gold or something, but nope.

My daughter's Vera Bradley was a treasure find at a thrift store. If I remember correctly, it still had the tags on it. My mother had paid $5 or $6.

My mom is a magnet for expensive treasures at thrift stores. She once found a brand new Burberry scarf for $1.99. I think we priced it online and that one was somewhere around $250. My daughter picked a formal dress that we found was worn by one of her favorite tv stars in an episode. I know I didn't pay even $10 for it. It was the exact dress...though we added delicate shoulder straps so she wouldn't have to struggle to keep it up all night.
