  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I feel like I don't know what I should do with my life  I am in college right now- but I am not enjoying it at all :( Does anyone else feel this way? Or, how did you figure out what to do with your life?

Look at me! I am 29! Join the club!! LOL!!

Actually, I have another thread here somewhere that is talking about this stuff.

Yeah, I do feel that way. And I am sorry, I have no idea how to figure out what to do with your life. I have been trying to understand that for 11 years, as long as I have been a follower of The Way.

So, at the very least, you aren't alone! And hey, i will pray for ya.

Talk to ya later

I recommend you read The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. It might not help with the college situation, but it's a great book to "put things in perspective."
Good Luck!

There is no easy answer...that's for sure! I thought I knew exactly what I was supposed to do with my life, but God has His plans, which so far are much better than mine. I've been through so much school...I go full time every summer and I finished undergrad in 3 years. Now that I'm in grad school there are things about social work I just don't like, but I know God will lead me where He wants me to go. Enjoy what's going on in your life right now and let God guide you to wherever He wants you to go with your life. I think that some people are supposed to do several things with their lives...we even see that from the people in the Bible. Focus on doing God's will and building your relationship with Him. Be a witness for your friends and family who are unsaved and remember that God gives us opportunities each and every day to serve Him and to tell others about how He is working in our lives! God bless you!

Good advice. This has been something that has been waring in my soul. Maybe God doesn't have me in one spot, maybe I am to be where He wills, and doing whatever!

I went through college and didn't enjoy it as a whole, sometimes it's just a nessarey evil. Now i'm in the working world and i'm not enjoying it as a whole. But I have to do it to live. I've sought God many many times on this and felt that it was His will that I went to college where I did, and I feel that it's His will that I'm in this profession at this time, even though I don't enjoy it. Sometimes our purpose is simply being in His will, even though we may not like it.

I feel ya, netal. I'll be a junior in the fall, and will be on my third major. Hope this one's the right one! It is such a hard desicion what to do with our lives. But I believe that God will show each of us the way when he feels the time is right. I just hope it's before my scholarships run out! My current major is English. It was a leap of faith for me to change to that. My family pressured me into pre-med. I didn't enjoy it and I knew that it wasn't where God wanted me. I could feel it in my heart. My advice to you is to try your best to just listen. Maybe God has been whispering in your ear for a while now, but you just haven't heard Him. I changed to English because writing was the only thing I have ever been good at and that was the only class I was ever happy in. My problem was that you aren't guaranteed a job when you get out as you would be if you were pre-med. You just have to have faith that God has a plan for you and that if you can only trust in Him, he will bless you endlessly. Always remember Jonah.

Hi Netal,

I know exactly how you feel, I'm at college at the moment studying music but I don't enjoy it as much as I used to. I dropped out of my school sixth form a couple of years ago because I didn't like what I was doing and in september I'm going to do some more A-levels.

Alot of older people tell me that they didn't know what they wanted to do, but that they just ended up doing what they are doing, so I don't think you have to worry. I know it does get frustrating when you have no idea about what you want to do, but God has a plan for you so just keep praying

I will pray for you too :)

I know exactly how you feel! I am in same situation. I really want to know where God wants me, not where I want me, you know? I pray about it and wait to hear His voice. Sometimes I wish He would speak to me in a booming voice from the sky so I would know what He wants!! It is hard because everyone asks me "So what are you going to do after you graduate college?" I am like "I don't know!!!!!!" People always look at me weird when I am like "I am waiting to see where God wants me". So I feel your pain and I will be praying for you! :)

If you feel uncomfortable with your corse of study then change your major. But when has school ever been a good time. Even Bible COllege. Studying the word of G-D! It drags. But the joy is in what lies after that.

I am in the same boat where I dont know what to do with the rest of my life. But I give it to G-D at ever chance. :D
