  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It's okay. It's not for everyone :) It has its pros and cons and I made this thread mostly because I was wondering if it was a good idea to get one or not. Since I am 28 and it would confuse people, I'm not so sure. Make as Ethie said put it as a necklace would be good.

If you want to wear it, then do it with pride. Who cares what anyone says. And you don't know who you will talk to about it, really. A lot of kids these days are confused about their lives and no one to point them to the right direction. If it helps one underage kid from thinking about having unprotected, unsafe sex then I am all for it.

Thats how I would see it, I guess. Its not ideal but you never know.

woah weird cf, what did you do?

Do you wear a purity ring?

No.

Would you wear one?

No.

I don't need a bit of metal to tell the world I'm "pure", because women aren't interested in me anyway lol.

I suppose if you're a woman and you wear one it's a big "**** off!" symbol to dodgy guys at the bar. You don't need to wear them around Christians or those who already know you are, because they already know you don't fornicate. But it also seems to me to serve to show off how pure you are aspect to it that I dislike. I also dislike the wearing of cross necklaces for that reason, it's a pet peeve, but if it's purely aesthetic I'm cool with it.

Let your yes mean yes, and your no mean no. That's all there is to it, no relics required.
Wisdom.

As for me, my parents got me one when I was twelve.
I still have it, but I rarely wear it. If I do wear it, it's just as ring, not on my left ring finger as it was originally intended.

I value purity, but to answer your questions, no and no. I do not need a gimmick to express this value, and it is entirely counterproductive for a single man who wants to get married to wear a ring.

Let your yes mean yes, and your no mean no. That's all there is to it, no relics required.

These sum up my thoughts.

Personally, I don't need to 'advertise' my purity with a ring.

Are purity rings supposed to be worn on the left ring finger or something? ...I can see how that would cause confusion to people. Why not just wear it on your right ring finger? That's what I would do I guess if I had one.

That actually is a good idea

Traditionally, at least according to what I've read about them, they are to be worn on the left finger as a placeholder until the wearer receives an engagement or wedding band.

Ahhh. Okay then, that answers my question. :) ...Well, again, I'd just wear on my right finger then as to not create any confusion.

I currently don't have one, but I'm thinking about getting one and say this ring:

I don't understand, what does the ring have to do with purity? Maybe if it was made from plastic and had a pic of the Jonas Bothers on it, I'd get the picture.

If you just want an excuse to wear an expensive looking piece of jewelry, then just get one. What does purity got to do with style?

Okay, nm, just looked at the price...it's not even expensive. It just looks nice.

Frodo's ring was cooler.

Agreed.

I saw a 18 year old wearing one for the first time in my life last summer.
That would be my thought. Usually, if it's a fancy ring, they're engaged... more plain looking, they're married. Purity? What name so?
