CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

you dont need a ring to stay abstenant (correct spelling lol?), its not like if ur about to do it then it electrocutes you or something.
(i am not saying abstenince is bad just saying i dont see how wearing a ring helps)

I honestly love it. I mean, yes, you shouldn't need a physical ring, but, when asked, it can also be a great way to outreach to others about Jesus. I honestly wear one 24/7 except for when i'm taking a shower. Also, whenever I am feeling down, it helps to be able to look at my hands, and be reminded that there is someone in the world who will love me for who I am, and the least I can do is to save myself sexually for them.

Agreed. Except for me instead of a ring, I have a bracelet I got for Generation unleashed. It was the year I became a true Christian(I was lukewarm before that) which was last year. It helps me remember that God is there and He is worthy of nothing of mine because nothing I have is worthy enough for him. Yet He still puts up with me. My life principles? Go listen to "Background" by lecrae. Beautiful song with a very strong meaning. I love it!

Most of the people I knew with them were in sexual relationships. At least, that was true in high school. In college no one wears them anymore.
I think if you're actually saving yourself, that's great, but I faiil to see the point in the rings. Other than that it helps some people feel extra special and unique or something. To each their own. Personally I dont need a ring to remind me not to do it.

~checks what school I'm at~ I'm in college, and at the college I attended last year, tons of people wore purity rings. yes, you don't need a ring to remind you not to do it, but it's still a way that you can possibly share Christ with other people. People ask me all the time if I'm married cause I wear my purity ring on the finger my wedding ring will someday be on, and that gives me a chance to tell them about Christ. But yeah, in high school, I wore a purity ring. In college, I wear a purity ring. I will wear one until the night that I first have sex with my future wife.

I say.. if you want to/feel led to wear one, then do it :] otherwise.. don't bother wearing one just because other people do

I may be bad, but I'm perfectly good at it.
If any future children I may have came home wearing a purity ring, I'd make them eat it.
Same with my little brother, although looking at him I don't think there's any danger of that happening.
