  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Currently, my wife and I are spending roughly $130 a month on cigarettes. Could go with Pall Mall and save some money, but I think I would rather quit. lol I remember when a carton went for around $15...20-30 not too long ago, and now they're like 30-40. Ironically, without knowing the statistics, I wouldn't doubt there are more poor people that smoke, than middle-upper class folks.

The price hikes on tobacco is so stupid. Cigars were safe for a while, but even they've been hit. A 5 dollar cigar is now an 8 or 9 dollar cigar. That's partly why I went to pipes...5 bucks last me six months, as opposed to a cigar, which lasts me 2 hours for 9 bucks.

Yeah, I've thought about buying tobacco in a can and rolling our own...there's a bit of cost for the equipment to do a professional rolling job, but should pay for itself in savings over buying them by the carton. Hmm..I could get a cheap pipe and try some different flavors. Maybe canned tobacco's tend to have fewer added chemicals?

I'm not actually sure about that...the tobacco I buy is in little plastic baggies, but it would make sense if canned stuff had fewer chemicals. Your best bet would be to go to a tobacco shop and just ask, or dig around online.

Ouch...that sucks. I recommend bootlegging.

My great grandfather bootlegged for the Purple Hart gang in MI and my great Aunt use to run a bootleg outfit as well, she had a .357. Tough lady.

:sorry:

I have an old lamp that was used as a distillery during Prohibition, I got it form my grandmother...whether or not she used it is kind of one of those cool lfamily rumors.

good man! i have slowed down! and for that i am thankful. I was enjoying it a bit too much but now I usually just smoke the pipe on the weekends or after i finish a ball game. i bought a tin of Old Dublin last weekend. It's the first time I have tried a more 'english' tobacco. it's very potent, and tastes strong, but I enjoy it.

My favorite tobacco right now is 7 Seas. It's similar to Captain Blacks. There is a nice tobacco store near me that sells some nice flavors in bulk as well. So far my favorites are butter rum and peaches and cream.

Thanks very much for info on the samples. I will have to try it out!

How about you? How is that MacArthur? I may order one.

I've only smoked the Legend and it smokes very well. I've been able to light it and smoke a bowl with only one light. It stays nice and cool the whole smoke.

I have some samples of MacBaren Gold, Regular and Royal coming in the mail and will post some thoughts on it.

I've limited my smoke to one bowl, once a week. I've increased by rooibos tea drinking as well for antioxidants as well. ;-)

The tax in Canada on alcohol and tobacco is insane. I bought a bottle of whiskey and drove it back across the boarder. I paid $21 for the bottle in the States and paid $19 bucks in Canadian tariffs. Not cool man, not cool. It's a similar percentage on tobacco.

You should move to Texas. We're all for LEGAL immigrants.
