  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Too late...I bought some brandy instead. I wanted something sweet and I can count on brandy.

I like a little brandy now and then. When I was a kid, when we went deer hunting on cold winter days, my dad would give is a teeny bottle cap full of brandy. It would warm our insides, but was not enough to do more than that. I have fond memories of that small sip of brandy before the hunt.

I've never tasted brandy, is it good?

It is. It's not something I'd normally grab for when I want to enjoy a spirit but I do enjoy a drink now and then. It's like a wine but stronger, similar to a whiskey almost? I'm not sure how to describe it. I fill a snifter with ice and then pour some brandy over it and allow it to melt the ice some. It's a really sweet drink so it's nice after a meal or if you just enjoy sweets.

Moving on...

Who is the best boxer/fighter of all time? (Let's keep the discussion to boxing for right now.)

I've enjoyed watching the destructive power of Mike Tyson but also enjoy the ring generalship of Gene Tunney. Let's not forget Harry Greb the human "windmill."

In my humble opinion I think Manny Pacquiao is probably one of the greatest fighters of all time. At least one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters.

I would never put Tyson on a list of the greatest of all time. He had a couple of years on a good run back in the nineties. All that power worked good for a while but power alone will only hold up for so long. Particularly when you are getting older ;). I never considered Tyson a very skilled fighter.

Who do you think is among the greatest managers of all time?

On a side note -I am really hoping that Pacquiao and Mayweather can work it out so that they will fight this fall. Not because I think it will be a close fight - but because I'm going to enjoy watching Mayweather get destroyed...

Yah, he's on my list as well.

I would disagree about Tyson, he was good when Cus was alive but after that, it was all down hill. He stopped training in peek-a-boo style and turned into a slugger. When he had good trainers and handlers he was just amazing to watch. Check out the vid below, you'll see what I mean.

YouTube - ‪tyson being elusive‬‎

It's the same story with Rocky Marciano. When a fighter keeps coming forward, moving his head, using arms to block, etc. they often come off looking like a slugger. Both Tyson and Marciano were good boxers with odd styles and wonderful to watch.

YouTube - ‪Rocky Marciano underrated defense highlight‬‎

Could I vote for Cus D'Amato? He had to heavy weight champs in Patterson and Tyson.

On a side note -I am really hoping that Pacquiao and Mayweather can work it out so that they will fight this fall. Not because I think it will be a close fight - but because I'm going to enjoy watching Mayweather get destroyed...

At this point I don't care if it ever happens. Mayweather asked for the blood tests and Pacman finally said yes, then Mayweather said he wanted more...I don't care to watch Mayweather anymore. Send him back to WWE.
