  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I grabbed some local craft beer called "Dead Elephant" IPA.

Dead Elephant Ale

A full bodied golden Pale Ale which pours with a linen white medium density head leaving spider web lace on the glass.

On the palate the flavour is sweet fruity malts up front (apricot, mango) with a bit of candy, and slight grassy notes which fall away to reveal a hint of biscuit with rather pleasant grapefruit and perfume undertones.
This is a hop bomb, there is no doubt. To the nose there is a mild malt aroma which accentuates the robust floral bouquet which is derived from the hops.

Medium full bodied ale with pleasant lingering hop finish.
6.8 % alcohol by volume, IBU's 46.6

Pipe club!

Just got back. We had a rep for Brigham tonight and he brought a LOT of free samples. I'm not greedy so I grabbed 7 Seas white and gold, Rise and Shine and something else, can't remember right now. I was also given a cigar from Honduras and a new shiny pipe nail.

twin, ever try Five Brothers?

Does she have the fierceness of a Rottweiler as well?

No, she's more likely to lick you into submission than attack you. She can be vocal, she tries to communicate, and I've learned some of her barks, and the differences in them. She's bold, rambunctious, and a lot of fun.

As for Rottweilers being fierce, a lot of that is training and how they were treated as they were growing from puppyhood. My folks has several Rottweilers when they were still on their farm. Protective is the word I would use, territorial, but also loyal and very good with children. Rottys are great dogs.

Rotties are good dogs and I almost bought one years ago. Instead I bought a Bouvier Des Flanders, good dog, very alert and solitary. I miss that dog. If I buy another dog I'd like a bull terrier.

twin, ever try a Casa Magna Oscuro? It smells really good. :tutu:
Is that a cigar? I don't smoke cigars very often and when I do it is usually something like Backwoods. I am a thin man and big cigars make me look like I am trying to smoke a turd. ;)

Ever heard of a guy named Ron Woods? You remind me of him.

How did your Presby friend like the Hazelnut?

I haven't heard back yet. I think he went off to Puritan Reformed Seminary in MI last month so I'll have to drop him an email. He wanted me to go with him to take the classes and browse the library. He was very excited about it and he probably smoked it all by now.

Not sure what I'm sending your way, guess I'll know when I see it.

He wrote me today and said he did like it. Normally he smokes something else and said the taste wasn't want he expected but did enjoy it very much.

An old, blind cowboy wanders into an all-girl biker bar by mistake.
He finds his way to a bar stool and orders a shot of Jack Daniels
.

After sitting there for a while, he yells to the bartender,
'Hey, you wanna hear a blonde joke?'

The bar immediately falls absolutely silent.

In a very deep, husky voice, the woman next to him says,
'Before you tell that joke, Cowboy, I think it is only fair,
given that you are blind, that you should know five things:

1. The bartender is a blonde girl with a baseball bat.

2. The bouncer is a blonde girl.

3. I'm a 6-foot tall, 175-pound blonde woman with a black belt in karate.

4. The woman sitting next to me is blonde and a professional weight lifter.

5. The lady to your right is blonde and a professional wrestler.

Now, think about it seriously, Cowboy.
Do you still wanna tell that blonde joke?'

The blind cowboy thinks for a second, shakes his head and mutters,
'No, not if I'm gonna have to explain it five times.'
