• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Good morning everyone!

I started having obsessional thoughts like a year ago. I did not know it was OCD until I realized that these thoughts made no sense and still I was holding on to them. I also had OCD compulsions, like checking, which I no longer have, praise God!

Some days are fine and the thoughts are totally gone. Some other days are horrible, and they come back. I feel guilty for having them. But the worst is that my thoughts make me feel far from the Lord, which is a lie, since God is always near. The worst is that this condition deceives me so much and instead of living in the Joy of the cross and eternal life, I live in fear sometimes.

Can I be cured without treatment? I told my mom I had problems and she was like, no you dont! I am scared of being open with them.

Do you guys have good days and then bad days? How do you get out of them?

Psalm 18 and 40 have been really helping me.

Have a blessed Friday!

The truth helps. Once you start to trust and understand that the thoughts are not wanted and that God is not going to hold them against you, and once you understand salvation is by faith in Jesus alone, not in dumb little actions then you will start to feel more free. The Bible says the tuth will set you free and that perfect love casts out fear. Just pray, and I think the close you try to draw to God and the better you get to know Him, you will fear no more.

OCD can be treated many ways, such as previous post mented CBT.

If you are concerned you should find a professional who helps folks with OCD that you're comfortable with and start learning the tools you need to combat your OCD.

Acceptance, avoidance and refocusing are a few tricks you can use to out-smart your OCD.

Many Blessings,

Coach John
