I love Punk. I have heard of Social Distortion and Bad Religion, they are pretty good. Personally me I like classic Punk the most. There a band call X-ray spex that's awesome. They are one of the first punk bands in the world.

I love X-Ray Spex and old school punk. One of my favorite styles of music.

Another early punk band is a group called Death (not to be confused with the death metal group). As early as 1974, they were making music that sounded like a cross between Bad Brains and Jimmy Hendrix. They were three black dudes from Detroit, and it's possible they had a direct influence on Bad Brains. Here's an example of what they recorded in the mid 70's (different sources contradict on the exact year):

Death - Freakin Out - YouTube

The same three guys would later become a Christian rock band, changing their name to The 4th Movement. They recorded music under this new name in the early 80's, going in a more Hendrix & Lenny Kravitz like style. Still really good, but not punk.

As for Christian punk, my all time favorite is The Clergy. Or were they grunge?
They put out an album in 1993 called "Ruami". It's one of those albums that I keep coming back too again and again. I'd like to call it grunge punk, with a psychedelic flavor, but maybe punk grunge is more accurate. It has that very grungy and punky sound of the early 90's, with lots of energy, passion and great songs. Love it! They would later put out a second album, but it was a disappointment.

Definitely a big fan of punk. From 70s and 80s punk rock (Buzzcocks), hardcore (Misfits, Black Flag, etc) to 90s pop-punk/hardcore-derived punk (Fugazi AFI, Ataris, Screeching Weasel, Green Day, etc.). To more modern 2000's punk and post hardcore (Bayside, Sum41, Blink182, etc).

I also enjoy offshoots of more mainstreamed punk:
-Post-punk like Bauhaus.
-Emo music like early Jimmy Eat World or Sunny Day Real Estate.
-The early "screamo" stuff like Antioch Arrow and City of Catepillar. As well as contemporary "screamo" like Alexisonfire or From First To Last or Hawthorne Heights.

I also like punk rock, but it depends on what kind.

One of my fav personal favs at the present time is Strung Out. They blend a unique style of progressive metal with hardcore punk.

I also love Bouncing Souls, Social Distortion of course (like you said), The Unseen is a really good hardcore punk band I get into a lot, I also love ska-punk like Operation Ivy, etc. etc.

I don't like Bad Religion, as they don't truly know enough about Christianity to be knocking it the way that they do, although I understand their stance against religious hypocrisy, however they attack Christ, not always the hypocrites.

There are somke realy good underground Christian punk bands like Dogwood and Headnoise. I reccomend you check 'em out, their not half bad!
