  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm trying to pump once a day so can get a good supply stored for when I return to work. I'm trying to wait to pump until after a feeding, as soon as possible, sometimes it might take an hour before I can get to it because I'm busy.... and usually my baby sleeps 4 hour stretches, sometimes only 2 hour stretches... we have a routine but not an overly predictable routine becuase she's only 4 weeks old. But my question is, what happens if I pump all my milk and then she wakes up right after and wants to nurse? Will I just be dry... does it take a certain amount of the time for the milk to be made again or can I still nurse her and it be ok?

I worried about this all the time with my first 3 and was afraid to pump and then not have the milk to feed them when they wake and don't want to give her a bottle.

No, you're never dry so don't worry about not having enough, even if you just pumped. The baby will be able to get a let-down in the same amount of time as before, it's just that you won't have as much "stored" milk in the breast ready to go.

The more you pump & nurse, the more milk you'll have though, so it's all good. :)

Ok, thank you. Couldn't that make the baby more frustrated though? It seems to me in the past with my last baby she'd suck and then unlatch herself and cry ... though now I'm realizing that when this baby does that, it's because she's having gas pain.

So earlier I felt engorged, then she woke and I fed her, then I pumped 5 ounces even after that... and she slept 4 hours and I fed her again and felt full even after she initially emptied me so now I'm thinking that maybe I should/ or could get away with pumping more then once a day as long as I have enough milk for her when she needs to eat... to help build up my frozen milk supply and my breast milk supply :)

Yeap, your never dry. Some times I would pump and soon after pumping my baby would wake up to eat and she had enough. I don't exclusively pump but I try to pump at least once every day so I can have a little stash in the freezer if I need a break or we're going out some where.
