A few questions... let me explain first.

My PS2 has decided not to load from any of my memory cards, and will not play a movie from a selected scene...
I called a gaming store and asked them what to do... they said first that I should just get a new one because it would cost too much to fix it... then I asked another employee and he said that I should call Sony.

I'm going to call them later, but I wanted to get some other advice on what to do because I know Sony may want to try and get me to get a PS3..... or something...

1. How long does my warranty last? I bought it a few years ago, but I don't have any papers for it (that I can find) but the seal is still on it that says, "If removed warranty void".

2. Should I get a new one?

3. Any other advice?

Warranties usually last for a year unless you bought a protection plan of some sort.

Your best bet? Buy a new one. PS2's are known for dying like that and apparently the newer ones haven't had problems.

Do you see the words I made bold? If you don't have any papers (warranty papers, receipts, etc.), then you aren't getting it fixed for free. Lesson learned?

2. Should I get a new one?
That would be your best bet. At least PS2s are relatively cheap now.

3. Any other advice?
Find someone to fix it. Sony might do it, but it may not be cost effective. If you have extra cash, consider hunting down a backwards compatible PS3 (20GB, 60GB or 80GB versions). 20GB, 40GB and 60GB versions are available where I live. We don't have an 80GB version here. I think 40GB and 80GB versions are available in America, but I don't know first-hand since I don't live in your country.
