  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

MAKING AMENDS FOR SIN

Pr 14:9 Fools mock at making amends for sin, but goodwill is found among the upright.

For example Zacchaeus made amends for sin saying, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount." And Jesus commended him saying, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham." Luke 19:8,9

So if you're repenting from sin, be encouraged to make amends for sin. (And don't let fellow "Christians" discourage you with the false claim that making amends for sin is a salvation by works idea. For fools mock at making amends for sin.)

I believe it may be that works are important because by your works you maintain your salvation it is a result of true faith for without it you may not be given opportunity to repent I’m not sure if they are necessary if you can’t but you wish to but you should seek to do them earlier in case but Jesus gave a parable about 2 debtors one having greater debt than other which they both were unable to repay which He freely forgave them both so I thought it shows that God can forgive anyone even as He forgave the thief for the parable also shows our works are not the basis which God will decide if we did them only then He can forgive but all still are in debt and God is rich in mercy and able to forgive freely anyone who comes to Him
