Provoking God?

I just wanted to get other peoples opinions on this
Jeremiah 7; 18-19
[BIBLE]but am I(God) the one they are provoking? are they not rather harming themselves to there own shame? [/BIBLE]

Israel is worshiping other gods. teaching there children to worship other gods. and there by "provoking" the one true God "to anger" . God asks ."Am I the one they are provoking?" if not Him then who? and why?

God's asking a rhetorical question/making a statement. He does that quite often, like in Genesis 11 when He says 'let's go down and see what they're making'. God didn't have to go down, it's an illustration.

yeah i figured.... i just found this funny... wanted others take on it... the word provoking implies that they were doing it on purpose... and i was thinking thats a silliy thing we all do. like a child using negative behavior to get attention.

If you're asking whether God can be similarly provoked today, the answer is an unqualified YES [Acts 5:1-11].
