Proverbs 2:1-5
My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding —
3 indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.

Question 1: What does "Turning your ear to wisdom" mean

Thanks He-man,

I looked the word "judiciously" up in the freedictionary.com, it means "Having or exhibiting sound judgment; prudent".

The phrase "turning your ear to wisdom" then means something like:
- to listen and make a sound judgement,
- to listen and use God's word to make a sound judgement.
Thus God asks us to listen and use His word?

Did I understand it correctly or didn't I catch the correct meaning?

Hmmm, knowing Hebrew makes understanding much more correct. Because the translations to other then Hebrew is not always 1:1. Is there any online website where I can get the hebrew words and meaning?
e-sword Bible software includes Strong's Hebrew and Greek concordance. You can download it free and it works very well,
You can buy Strong's Hard Copy at used book stores and it includes Hebrew, Chaldee & Greek.

I also have WORDsearch9 which is a talking Hebrew Greek version of Strong's. It was free but I do not know if it is now.

There are many Universities that teach Hebrew as an optional class and online too.

Thanks He-man
For our strength does not come from "Grey-skull" but from the Holy Spirit who helps us understand, gives us the strength to do all for Abba Father's kingdom. In Jesus name amen.

I will certainly need the Holy Spirit to receive the widom to learn. Learning/reciting bible phrases. Have not really learned or took the effort. I thought just reading the bible a bit would be enough. Wrong thought.
That's laziness.

I learned proverbs 2:1-5 and psalm 34:10. Those I can recite now. I noticed that it really takes a lot of effort to remember and to be able to recite them.

Just a little bit off topic... thanks again BIC :)

God thanks you and I thank you. You can learn a lot just by having a daily reading sequence. Here is how I do it: Read 3 verses from each section daily and you will have read the Old Testament Bible once and the New Testament twice each year. The pieces will soon begin to fall in place...It is self teaching with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and that way you are not influenced by pre-concieved notions or inducements by other people.

May Tuesday the 15th verses to read:
Deu 32.........Isa 5.......Act 27

Would you like a daily reading chart? There are some days that you will read more.
Starting with January you can see how it looks:

Gen 1,2..........Psa 1,2......Mat 1,2 etc. It just depends on how long the verses are.

A brother In Christ,
