Proverbs 11

Often we hear or read about the fruits of the Spirit, but rarely the fruits of the Righteous. The chapter has the verse, "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise." Asking the question of what Proverbs 11 has about righteousness (or righteous), we can make a list. But the three that stood out most to me summarizing it all are "Through knowledge the righteous will be delivered", "He who sows righteousness will have a sure reward", and "The desire of the righteous is only good".

Jesus said only God is good, he lived according to the will and word of the Father. What he sought for himself and shared with others was the good and truth of the Father's knowledge and wisdom. It's the word spoken to us by Him and the will intended for us by Him. This underlies our understanding of discernment and discretion when we speak and act, to carefully live according to God and cautiously share or advise others.

This verse stands out for me as well:

"The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise." ~Pr 11:30

It's utterly precious and describes what wisdom is, and that is, the "winning of souls". For only can the wise do such a thing, and only the wise are "wise-hearted" and therefore can be used of God to do so.

Thank you, the chapter fits very well!

My immediate thoughts is how Proverbs 11 is about the fruitfulness of the Righteous, but John 15 is about Jesus being the true vine. How our fruitfulness if we have it isn't actually our own, as branches we're neither the sower or the vine: "I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman." So any fruit of the Righteous wouldn't be theirs and what righteous they have is given to them, or shared with them just as the fruitfulness or fruit: "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

Interestingly it transitions to the theme of love. Just a verse before it's the glorification of the Father as the purpose of our fruitfulness, I'd underline "bear" specifically in " Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples." The next verse then goes into the love His Father has for Him, the love He has for us, and the love we're to have for each other. Returning to the previous verse it has them or us to be His disciples bearing fruit glorifying the Father, now in the next verse is has they're or we're to continue in His love. I immediately draw a relation between fruitfulness and love, both we've received from Jesus, who first received from the Father and then given to or shared with us: "As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love." (I'm thinking is love related to the good of God we're to desire.)

Then in the next verses it seems to provide the context of what's meant and the purpose it's suppose to have. Jesus relates loving Him to keeping His commandments, again as He has kept the commandments of His Father. A little further down He tells the disciples or us: "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you." The way Jesus loved them or us is the life He lived according to His Father's commandments (word and will) and the same life He given on the cross for them and our sins, the life we have now is His own which came from the Father: "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." He makes it clear they're or we're His friends if we do whatever He commands, not only did He in this chapter command them or us to love but whomever comes after Him to follow denying themselves and take up their crosses: "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." (Knowledge is the word or commandments of God, receiving and sharing it wins souls which saves them; not anything we personally say or do.)
