I am not making a judgement of you. The facts are that you are posting on the Orthodox board proclaiming yourself a Saint (and noting its with a capitol "S") when you are in fact not a Saint recognized by the Orthodox Church. If you were posting on OBOB and called yourself "Pope GBTWC" in your signature it would be just as offensive.

I have no problems with you posting here but I think its common courtesy if nothing else to not try and have a signature that is insulting to the other people you are posting with.

Thanks for the prayers for myself and my cat, Lord knows we can use all the help we can get.

rom 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter

rom 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

2cor 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead

Im dead and no Saint ever performed a miracle but it was God working in and through Him so If that is what qualifies me Im in

whats kinda trippy is b-4 I wasn't sure if Id pass the religious test to be a Saint but according to all these questions you all are asking I qualify, of course its not really that important how a religion views me, becouse scripture exhorts us not to be man pleasers but God pleasers. what is important is that my Father qualifies me :)

with love Saint Bill :holy:

so you've performed miracles? and has God told you personally that you're a saint?

No God has performed Miracles through me just like all the Saints you read God works through us and prayerfully you also
and has God told you personally that you're a saint?
Would you believe me if I said yes?

I am going to totally ignore GB because I find him offensive and not at all in good taste being he is a visitor to an Orthodox board. However, back to the OP, the High Church Episcopals do honor saints. I know this as a fact because I frequently get requests from Episcopal priests and laity for saints icons to be written, especially English and Irish saints.

I agree with this. I have no idea why this person is posting on our board and it seems deliberately trying to start arguments over the Orthodox teaching of saints. If he wants to question the teachings then do so on the debate board, not the regular TAW board.

That's cool, Michael. :)

It is cool except for when they ask you to write post-schism English or Irish saints and then you have to explain to the person that you are not able to write icons of non-Orthodox subjects.

man I changed my signature as requested the answers I gave were honest in response to questions asked of me Im not sure what it is that is offensive please forgive my ignorance but Im not trying to offend anyone. The reason Im here is that there's a lot of things I like about the Orthodox perspective if I just hang out with evangelicals all the time the result would be 1) I'd be bored becouse there's not that much that I dont already know of that perspective. 2) any disagreements I have with them is a result of My like mindedness with Orthodox teachings. 3) I wouldn't be stretched.
I recommend that you read back you might have missed some posts becouse while I do disagree with the Orthodox teaching on this its only becouse I now understand it , as a result of this thread if you read back and look at my new signature you'll see Ive Changed my point of view. And just becouse I dont agree with everything taught By the Orthodox Church doesnt mean I dont respect it and even admire many things about it.
the interesting thing though to me is that when someone questions my belief Im not offended becouse Im firmly planted and have confidence in Gods working in my life with truth. so Im not saying anyone lacks faith but if your easily angered by someone questioning a doctrine you might wanna pray about the reason.
also thank for your patience with me I know my dry sense of humor should be checked more and Im seeing how people might easily read it the wrong way and my communication skills via this forum aren't the best so I ask for your forgiveness. please let me know as I asked before if my signature is still offensive. if so you could PM me with suggestions.
lets learn from each other I dont wanna live in a bubble and I think your perspective are refreshing at times.

If you are coming here as an inquirer into the Church then that is wonderful. I just do not feel a sense of love or charity from your posts. What I get is a mocking of the Orthodox teaching of the saints. I do not see you posting in other threads or starting your own thread with your inquiry into the Church.

I am not easily offended. I do not have any lack of faith on the Church's teaching. What I have a problem with is a guest if you will coming into our house here in TAW and basically knocking things over and digging through the closests and wondering why people find it rude. If you really want to talk to us about Orthodox teachings then make a post about that and not making jokes about sainthood or trying to pass yourself off as a saint. I understand you changed your sig, I appreciate that effort. In case you have not noticed many of the Orthodox posters have avatars of their parton saints. Its something we take seriously.

so i assume there are non-Orthodox iconographers for this purpose? would they not be allowed to write any Orthodox icons?

i don't know who my patron Saint would be after i get Chrismated. my patron saint right now is St. Julian of Norwich.

There are plenty of people who are not Orthodox who paint icon looking paintings. I am not going to call them icons because I do not know if they have done what needs to be done to make it an icon. Most of these non-Orthodox people will paint you anyone you want, some will even paint non-Christian subjects like Ghandi in a form that looks like an icon.

It is a problem. Don't get me wrong, I love to write pre-schism western saints, but I must follow the teaching of the church in dealing with the schism.
