• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Scientific American...."people who harbor delusional narratives tend to bulldoze over reality in their attempt to deny that their own narrative is false."
Very well put.

People, you listening to this?

Yelling at a suicide bomber how illegal and wrong he is isn't going to work out well for anyone in the vicinity.
It atkes years and years of indoctrination before that someone is fanatical enough to really carry out a suicide attack. If you fear a suicide attack from the right, who's to blame? The "left" that simply voted or the right that has been poisoning minds for decades and decades?
"Decades" are a hyperbole? No.
Look at all the talking points from Rush Limbaugh, Carl Tuckerson, Ann Coulter, Alex Jones, Sean Hannity etc.
  • "they" force boys into girls bathrooms
  • "they" force gay marriage upon us
  • 'they' will take our guns away
  • "they" will persecute christians
  • "they" started a war on christmas
  • "they" want to push global warming.
  • "they" stole the election (that's since two months)
The right wing pundits have been doing nothing else but spreading lies and slander about the "left"

In the real world the Right has blocked the hearings of Merrick Garland -- but the left had to swallow that.
The right has launched attack after attack at Obamacare (and failed, but that's another story), but the left had just to swallow that.
The right pushed through the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett -- the Left had just to swallow that.
While overconsumption of single use plastic is a real problem Trump printed plastic sttraws "just to own the libs". "To own the libs" seemed to be the major policy, instead of doing best for the US.
When the right's main policy is aimed at making the other half of the country cry ("liberal tears on the morning") that's not very uplifting.
And now "the left" has to pay service? To people who can't stand that their guy lost an election?

I'm thinking that they really don't care at this point.

Let's put it this way...

One suicide bomber is extremely difficult to stop...
Thousands of them are impossible.
Becoming terrorists to own the libs doesn’t sound like an effective way to win the hearts and minds of the population.

You've said a lot in that post, and I agree with some of it. However, the notion that "virtually no one on the left supports Marxism" --is amazingly untrue.

Biden himself probably is not, but when Democratic members of Congress are crowing about being part of ''Democratic Socialists of America,''** refer to themselves as Socialists, and one at least has been a candidate for elective office running as a candidate of a Socialist party...there is no question about influential people "on the left" being Marxists.

It's a correct observation by definition and doesn't even depend for its accuracy upon us taking a look at the various pieces of Socialist legislation that they want Congress to enact into law.

** Democratic Socialists of America - Wikipedia

There are just over 250 Democratic members of Congress. Exactly how many claim to be a Marxist Socialist (and to be clear, we aren't talking about those that claim to be Democratic/Western European-style Socialist)?

You are soooo missing the point.

The stereotype was of the Right wingers stating what they believe about the Left...
(And you capitalize when using a proper name of a group)

But the truth is that Right wingers are gathering a huge storm of armed protesters...

Why does this have to end in bloodshed when there are easy and simple things to do to de-escalate the situation?

What easy and simple things are you suggesting be done?

There’s something really special about the “<screw> your feelings” crowd complaining about being marginalized.

The Left didn't have to exert any effort to vote this last Election...they did it on the couch while collecting welfare and unemployment checks.
The Right wingers had to take off from work to stand masked during a pandemic for hours in an extremely long line to personally vote for Trump...a whole lot more dedication and willingness to action than the Left ever did.

Ok this is just beyond the pale. You are making a derogatory characterization about HALF of the electorate which you know is absolutely untrue. You are bearing false witness against a bunch of us on CF and millions of Democrats.

We have jobs.
You think New York City, L.A., and Portland are made up of people on welfare? For real? Democratic strongholds in this country also happen to be major economic drivers, because millions of democrats are working in the financial, construction, hospitality, tech, and entertainment industries. I’ve held a job since I was 15 - that’s over 30 years. I’ve never received any kind of government assistance or even a loan from from my parents.

Don’t expect to be taken seriously after making such insulting, dishonest claims about other posters and half of Americans.

Nope. Never went to a Trump rally, even when he came to my home city while living in the Charlotte area in 2015-2019. Probably would if I had a friend or somebody to go with, but not something I would do on my lonesome.
A rally and a protest are two different things. You seem to feel strongly about the issue, I’m surprised you’re not taking action.

Careful this could be interpreted as inciting me to riot. :)

WOW...
I'm completely flummoxed at your machinations.
I heard people like you existed but I thought it was just play acting in comedic sketches....but you really believe this eh?

WOW....just wow.

It is not just him. Folks don't appreciate you saying you want both sides to kill each other, and your speech is intended to bring that about.

Your description says Christian. Repent.

You don’t seem the rioting type, and as a frequent protester I would never conflate the two. Just genuinely curious.

Now, half of the voting public is currently being marginalized by the other political party.
That isn't true, at least yet. It is currently about accepting the reality of the valid election.

Some people feel marginalized by reality...like flat Earthers or something.
Those who went along with Trump's delusion naturally feel marginalized. It cannot be helped.

lol that would be awesome, but I think that is extremely unlikely.
Yes, civil war, death and destruction in the streets and across the country is such a fun time for everyone.

No more internet either.
I wonder where people will get their (dis)information once the backbone goes down.

All socialists are Marxists now?
It is just another example of the reasonable discussion from the right that the left needs to embrace otherwise we're going to get right wing terrorism. Or something. I can't even make sense of this nonsense anymore.
