  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm currently on a four day a week, strength and power regiment. I'm in the fifth week of a 12 week program. After this, I will begin a mass body-building program for another 12 weeks. I wanted to see what the recommendation is for protein content.

Right now,I weigh 190lbs, and I consume about 180-200 grams of protein a day.

Always ask for powder that isn't denatured by the processing. Most powders are made using high heat and are denatured as a result. Denatured protein powders are carcinogenic. Pea protein is now considered better but again make sure it isn't denatured. Best to get nonflavored and flavor it yourself with frozen organic fruits like blueberries, mangos etc.

It depends on how much you want to bulk up. General rule for bodybuilders and strength athletes, is 1.5 to 2 grams per pound. Unless you are planning on being one of these, then I would stick with 1 gram per pound. There have been many tests showing that the body can only digest and use between 30-45 grams per protein every 3 hours. Steve Holman and Jon Lawson over at Ironman magazine have published this report. If you figure that up, considering that you sleep 8 hours a day, it only leaves 4-5 meals and a range of 120-225 grams total that a body can use.

I had posted on another thread about how creatine used to be overblown by it's users. At one time, believe I was 22 or 23 and creatine was a relatively new supplement, I was taking in 5 grams, 4 times a day for a total of 20 grams a day. It's now be shown that the body can only use around 10 grams at max per day. So your one gram per pound should be fine.
