protection for purpose

i know some will think i'm crazy, but fortunately the anonymity of the internet will allow me to talk to people about this.

my life has some sort of purpose. i don't know what it is, but it is always there, looming ahead of me, just past the point where i can reach a glimpse of it. i have prayed about it many times, but i still have no hints or clues as to what it is. i need some guidance as to ways i can go about at least finding a hint or a clue as to my purpose.

one of the main reasons i know about this purpose is that my life is protected. i have known about this for a long time, but i never spoke of it before tonight. tonight i spoke to my mom about it, and she told me that she knew about it as well. i'm really glad she didn't think i am crazy, because i worried about that. she said that she and my dad have had some very serious discussions about it. why am i protected, when others aren't? i know that the protection will only last until i have fulfilled my purpose, but i still do not know what that purpose is. i want at least a clue or a hint so that i can have some relief, some satisfaction that my life is headed in the right direction, because right now, i have no idea in what direction i need to go. please pray for me and help my find my purpose. any advice i could gather would be great as well. thanks.

Caley first of all I'd like to very much compliment you on the quote from THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN YOU.When Jesus teaches love,forgiveness and peace while our governmental leaders teach hate,revenge and war,you know for a fact that when you see a minister preaching in front of the American flag (or for that matter see messages on this web site with American flags waving at the top)that you're getting a distorted view of Christianity.
Concerning your search for your mission in life,there are three things you can do.First of course,keep asking God in faith believing, to show you what He wants you to do to serve Him.Secondly,keep looking for a mission yourself.In doing so,you may meet the very person God has selected to help you.Taking an interest and aptitude test which are contained in books at the public library,is a good first step to give you some direction.In addition,be sure to join one or more volunteer organizations so you come in contact with the social service community through which God performs miracles.Third and most importantly,if you have not already done so,be sure to pray for the baptism of the Holy Spirit which will spiritually prepare you to work for God.Go in peace!

Caley. I've been through that too. Oh man have I EVER!

I would describe those times as 'a fork in my stomach everytime i breathe' cause i didn't know what God wanted me to do. BUT that was until i let Him take control and you know what? My steps were guided without me knowing. I found out what I was here for.

My personal events include times when i started to do stuff i really liked. Things like animation, games and all sorts of entertainment. Then I got vision. A vision that i could create a movie so great it would send shivers down the spine of peopel who watch it and see God's message planted in them. Also to bring new trends to hollywood cause they just plain suck (except finding nemo. WOO).

ANYWAY! The point is to stop trying to look for your purpose and let God guide your steps. I mean, how can we even look for our purpose ourselves when we didn't even let God tell us in the first place.

What's that? Didn't get an answer? Still wondering? God being quiet about it?Then don't worry. You still have a purpose (a good one so don't freak out). God's probably not telling you for a reason. I mean, some purposes for some people can't be fufilled if God tells them that early. Ahh, that's my thoughts. I know some sound contradictory to what other's post but that's purely my thoughts. Oh, here's a biblical reference incase you're not getting much from me.

"And so, dear brothers and sisters, i plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrafice - the kind He will accept. When you think of what He has done for you, is it too much to ask? 2 Don't copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is." ROM 12:1-2

Hi Caley. I don't really claim to know much or have any special insight, but these are my thoughts. I agree a lot with Sharky. I would also encourage you to look at your past and where God has had you before, because sometimes where we have been can help point to where we are going. And one of my favorite quotes is from Chariots of Fire when that one guy says, "I know God made me for a purpose. He also made me fast. And when I run, I feel His pleasure." (or something very close to that). I say if you can find what makes you feel God's pleasure, then you are certainly on the right path. Not that it is an easy thing to find... As for the protection issue, that is pretty cool! Perhaps with such special protection, God is calling you to something dangerous that would require this blessing. I dunno. But God always knows, and you can't go wrong when it is His face you are seeking.
P.S. I have also heard that the book Purpose Driven Life (by Rick Warren) is really good and helpful.
