Proverbs 13:7 There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing;
And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches. NKJV
This one requires a lot of thought and prayerful meditation. I looked up a few versions, as the meaning seems to vary to some degree. This may be one where we look at other references in the Word in order to rightly divide the Word of God.
7 One man considers himself rich, yet has nothing [to keep permanently]; another man considers himself poor, yet has great [and indestructible] riches. AMP
7 There is that feigneth himself rich, and hath nothing; there is that maketh himself poor, and hath great wealth. Darby
7 There is who is making himself rich, and hath nothing, Who is making himself poor, and wealth [is] abundant. YLT
The first version posted seems to go with Prov. 11:24, as well Young's Literal Translation. One scatters abroad, sowing seed, and increases. The rich hoards, and has nothing.
Another possible interpretation could be congruent to "as a man thinketh, so is he". For some, there is way more at our disposal than we realize. How wealthy we are, and never tap into it.
Yet, another interpretation could be a person may want to give an impression of being either rich or poor.
I welcome comments on this, just no debates.
