I'll entertain this for only a little bit longer,.......What is the difference between the gift of prophesying and the office/ministry of a prophet?

The difference, is that the gift of prophesy is given by God to the men/women God chooses: the office of a prophet, is a title bestowed by men.

The gift of prophesying is given by The Holy Spirit to a person who receives the infilling of The Holy Spirit. The ministry, or leadership position of a prophet (hence why I call it an office) is given by The Lord Jesus to that person when they are anointed by The Father, as refenced in scripture.

One speaks Edification, exhortation, and comfort to the corporate body,..... the other can speak predictively, write scripture by the word of wisdom, and operate in the working of miracles (like Elijah) and the gifts of healings (like Jesus did predominantly).

The differences are there in scripture, but most Christians confuse them easily, and will continue to confuse them even when shown correctly.
