When in Rome, do as the Romans. If you are going to be a part of the public worship service in a particular church, it would be wise to do so in a way that the persons there are comfortable with. Each of us is entitled to our own beliefs, but engaging in behaviour which is not accepted in a particular congregation will only cause strife.

Rest assured that you are not the only person ever to confront these sort of issues. If you feel that the accepted church positions are at odds with your own beliefs, it may be prudent to find a different church.

I did see where your coming from Josh but Mark makes a vaild point, a part of my family is catholic. When I very young I didn't understand why their church was so different then ours. But different beliefs/doctrines. As my mom, once said there are many different paths but all of them get you into the same place. It just depends on which way that you want to take, some people prefer following the Pentecostal beliefs(like me) while others folloe the medothidist way. From what I know/think niether way is wrong and niether is better then the other. It just based on personal preferences/what others believe/what others are comfortable with.


In a way even though you don't agree with every that particular church/religion has to offer, it's important to still respect the church, because even if they aren't on our paths they are still on the path to getting to Jesus, which is the most important thing.


I do know that in a way your kind of stuck because you can't just leave and go to another/the other church that you would like to go in and all. I do understand how you feel though because alot of kids/teens/young adults have been in your shoes. Just remember to hold on, and keep praying about the sitution, I can't remember if I asked you this before or not but have you recently sat down and talk to you parents about it? Even if you could go to another church like a church van could pick you up or even a friend who goes to the particular church that could pick u up. I would recommend having them or someone they know and trust spiritually that is pentescostal or have been to pentecostal churches come with you and check it out and all, with might make them feel more comfortable.

And, Josh, I commend your enthusiasm in all things of our Lord. But, He even in the word..which I found one scripture that kinda fits the bill here...about allowing all to come to HIM as they are, and I think that Mark and Godsgirl are kinda right...you need to meet them where they live. Like in this scripture I did find:

Oh my...I hope I didn't offend Josh, I know how excited you are that you belong to Him, I just was siding on the side of caution! And, like Godsgirl....I also have been there too, and the outcomes were far from what I "had" hoped for, but live and learn..right?!!! Love you bro, hannah

Oh yes I know. I've been at that Methodist church since Feb. I haven't done anything too crazy. The speaking in tongues thing was a joke by the way. lol. I wouldn't do that if I were praying in front of everyone. I do, however, pray in tongues under my breath though.

Well, I'd love to move to a different church, I'd move in a heartbeat if I could....but my parents wont let me. They are making me go to their church. Ugh. Oh well. I'm cool with it. Gotta obey my parents and honor them even though they are making me go to their church.

Yeah we all worship the same God but in different ways...plus there are also issues like abortion, gay marriage, Israel, and stuff like that to consider when you are at a church too.

When we get to Heaven there's not going to be a place for just Catholics, Pentecostals, Baptists, Methodists, etc, etc...We're all going to be together! Hallelujah!

Good mornin' everyone!!!

Hope everyone is having a very blessed day!

I have some pretty cool news to share. Last night at band practice, yes still the Methodist church...lol, I was reading the service outline for Sunday and I was reading under the brief prayer after the worship and it said, "Josh" I was like, "Is that me or some other Josh I don't know." LOL...They said it was me. Then the girl over worship said, "Josh, if you don't want to that's perfectly fine, just let me know." I said, "Don't worry about it. I love praying. I have no problem with praying in front of everyone." Out of all the people to pray they pick me, a teen-ager to pray...which hasn't happened before...hmmmmmm. hahaha.

I was talkin' to one of my friends last night and I said watch me start praying and be like, "Oh Jesus, shay la ba..." LOL. Start speakin' in tongues at a Methodist church outloud like that...Oh yeah! LOL...That would be great. lol...

Oh! and I have a meeting with the associate pastor sometime, most likely next week about church beliefs and personal beliefs. Oh yeah! That should be interesting. LOL. I'm going to mention to her what the Methodist church used to be like and what it is now and how liberal they are today (well not in those exact words...lol)

Hi Josh...Bless you sweetie for your zeal for the Lord. Don't ever lose that. But, as reading your post (and some others) a red flag came up and it has before,but I really feel tonight I had to say something. Mark and Hannah, and GGA have some good advice, and I am with them. It says that out of the mouth of two or more it shall be confirmed, so I believe the Lord is speaking to you, and I pray you receive. Paul said he had to become all things to all people in order to win them to the Lord. You must be respectful of the people and their beliefs of the church you are a member of now. Josh, I see you as an evangelist. Not a preacher nor teacher, but an evangelist.
You have a strong zeal for spreading the word of God, and that I believe is the gift that God has given you. You need to take the gift, receive it, nurture it, grow and mature in it. The time is not now, but in the future. I truly believe the next few months are critical to the developing of this, and what the future holds for you, what plans God has for you. How you handle the things that come to you determine where else you will go. God has a definite plan for you and call on your life, but you have a say in it, Josh. You can go right along with it, or you can slow it down and delay it. Proceed with caution, . Pray at every turn. Do nothing without consulting God. One other thing..You need to pray that God will send you a strong mentor in real life that will take you under their wing and begin to train you and bring you up in what you are called to do. Like Elijah and Elisha. Maybe you can find another church that has like Saturday night youth praise and worship and a service for them. That would work.
Keep praying and keep shouting, but sometimes we have to shout and dance in our hearts. You can be standing in a church service, with your hands by your side, singing an old hymn maybe, but in your heart you will have your hands raised and your knee bowed before the King. or you may be dancing before Him joyfully. God has you in that church, Josh, for a reason. In time He will move you out. Do what He has asked you to do there. But, be respectful, and be wise, honey. Ask God to guard your heart, your tongue, and your mind. Be meek and be humble. Many people may not show their spirit filled side, but God has a way of bringing together like believers.
I pray you are not offended at any of this, dear boy, man of God.

I am glad to see the turnaround in what you are saying now. That's good.
Word of caution though, Rose..Sometimes we think the enemy is attacking us, when it's not the enemy at all. There's no attack, but a trial from the Lord. I went through that, and still do. Many times I have to stop and ask Him, is this from you or just an out and out attack? So, be cautious. It may not be what you think.

Well, that's a double edged sword, there sis. If God is no respector of persons, then He is for the other one, too, right? I am not trying to upset you, Rose, but just trying to get you to see something right before your eyes. Sometimes words get spoken and they seem harsh, but even scripture says God chastises those that He loves.
I don't feel this is an attack for you. But rather a trip around the mountain again. I truly feel there is something God wants you to learn and you keep missing it. I cannot tell you in answer to your pm asking me what lessons, all I can say is God will tell you Himself. Then it will be confirmed. There were so many saying the same thing to you that it had to be the truth of God.
Just be careful, Rose. God is good, for sure. He does daily load us with His benefits, but He also says "Beloved, I pray you prosper and be in health, just as your soul prospers". to live in lack and never having enough says something is wrong. God had to hit me with a hard truth once, and the scripture was the one that speaks of holes in my pockets. Ouch! But, I took it as a loving rebuke and tried to learn a lesson. Did I? Probably not fully, but thank God I learned more than I had before.
