Well, I heard that from people who believe in speaking in tongues and prophesy and all that kind of stuff, so, thats why I trust them. Plus most of them in my experience think if your not speaking in tongues you arn't christian, which is a HUGE hearsay.

I attempted to pray in tongues some to, I honestly don't know if its real when I do that or just me making stuff up, it feels.......something..... when I do it. I don't know how to describe it. Like I need to get something out.

I will comment on just this bit because this is in the area of my experience and ministry. I can say quite clearly that speaking in tongues is NOT a requirement for being a Christian. Being converted to Christ and cleansed in the blood of Christ is the qualification. We have total acceptance with God when we are born again. Speaking in tongues is a tool that comes with the baptism in the Spirit. It is like becoming a mechanic. A person qualifies and gets his certificate. Then he gets his tools. Having the tools does not make him a mechanic, and if he doesn't have a socket set does not disqualify him from being a mechanic. A person can be born again and baptised in the spirit without speaking in tongues. Of course, having a socket set would make him more useful in his practice as a mechanic, in the same say that having the gift of tongues would make him more effective in prayer and the use of the other "tools" of the spirit.

When a person speaks in tongues, it is not as if something takes control of your mouth and tongue. That would not be faith. Faith is something you do because you believe what the New Testament tells you. If you come to God as ask Him for the gift of tongues, and then receive it by faith, then you can start to make up the language, and you will find that you will promptly start speaking a fluent language. The difference between making up a whole lot of nonsense and speaking in genuine tongues is what you believe you are doing. If you believe that you are speaking in tongues and are genuine expressing your heart to God through the language, then you can have the confidence that you are speaking a language that God understands and appreciates even if you don't.

If you are doing that, and you are getting conflicting thoughts saying what you are doing is false, guess where that comes from? The Holy Spirit does not give you conflicting thoughts about something you are doing in faith and obedience to the New Testament.
