Prophecy Thread

Now many years ago I used to try out prophecy, and it seemed to work, i.e. I got correct things from God for people, which often encouraged them. But in the recent years I have had a lot of trouble decerning what was coming from God and what was the devil confusing me, or what was my own mind. I am here with this today as I would like a safe place to try to have a go at it. To help refine the inner life.

I am not doing this for fun, but to try to refine the gifting so I can use it to expand God's kingdom in future.

Also visa versa if you would like to have a go at prophecy, I can be your test subject. Feel free to give it a go.

I will share with you an example of prophecy that actually worked for me. So you can see what sort of thing I want to try. I had some success with prophecy initially, and wanted to try it out so I went to a neighbour, and asked him if I could try to ask God for some thing that only he and God could know that I would never know. He said "ok that is fine". So I prayed and asked God to show me something. Two words entered my mind, "foot" and "soldier", so I said to him "have you been a foot soldier". He said "no", so I left. But I felt to go back. When I got back I asked him "Do the words foot and solider mean anything to you", and he said "yes, I had a bad foot and could not join the army because of it".

This is super scary, trying it again. But any ways .... if i make mistakes let me know ... it is not about making me feel good ... I really just want to learn to get past the fear of it.

I'm certainly not an expert. But I do believe that God speaks to us in parables for a very good reason. But one thing that we all must keep in mind and in our heart is that we must Trust God and truly believe in his promises. And he will guide you to do His will! If you desire a spirit of prophecy, I believe that is a good thing. God has and will continue to give you the gift of the Holy Spirit. He has already purchased these things for us with his blood.

I like to hear that, few of us are experts. I am certainly not an expert.

But I do believe that God speaks to us in parables for a very good reason.

Yes, when I used to write sermons God seemed to always show me a picture story or a parable. Not sure why do you have any enlightenment on why?

But one thing that we all must keep in mind and in our heart is that we must Trust God and truly believe in his promises. And he will guide you to do His will! Yes last night I kept asking Him, did he want me to try prophecy again, and all I kept getting were verses that sake of the absolutes of my salvation. I believe that He was sort of saying, well you are saved aren't you. So maybe I need to make that my focus, His salvation, and ability to use me.

I don't know why he always speaks in parables lol. Sometimes I'm just like "God tell me what I'm supposed to do!" But I will say this: When I tell my kids something to do, I don't ask them to do more than they can handle. I don't ask them to pick up a box that weighs 50 pounds. And I don't ask them to solve calculus problems or to cook dinner. But I do let them take their clothes to the laundry and subtract and add and pour juice and make them do some things they think they can't do but that I know they can. I'm sure God knows exactly what we can do even if we don't think we can or feel too weak.
