Empiricism would hold that sensory beliefs are basic, I think.

This dress

appears white and gold to me, yet I know that it isn't. Appearances can be misleading.

I'm seeing it as blue and black. I didn't see the original meme however. However after reading a bit of the article and that others seen it as blue and brown - I tried to see it as such and could but more to do with the picture, and lighting. I can't see it as white and gold however.
