My 16 year old son saked me the following question:

"Dad, I want to try an experiment at my school. I want to lay the American flag and the Bible on the ground and see which one people would pick up first. I already know the answer. I would never do this because I just couldn't bring myself to lay the Bible on the floor. I know this sounds weird, but I make sure that my Bible is always the top book in my my stack of books on my desk. Is this wrong?"

I almost cried. I was so proud.

Peace.

Peter

The sad part is he was fully convinced that someone would pick up, and make more fuss over, the flag being on the ground. And given what I have experienced, I would have to agree with him.

I work in a Christian HS. The lack of respect the printed, or spoken, word of God gets is nausiating.

Peace.

I understand what you are talking about. Half of the NT out of my bible fell out onto the floor and I almost went with it! Then again I have been reading it quite a bit lately. I think I need to get a new one before some of the pages get lost..

I too feel a horrible groan in the spirit at the lack of respect for the printed or spoken word. It can make one physically repelled.

Personally though a flag on the ground wouldn't bother me.
