  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This morning in church I was speaking to a very old lady who shared her life story with me (and it felt like a lifetime too ;-) ) she then asked me about my background and future hopes. As I was speaking to her she stopped me and told me that I had just made a pronouncement. Just at that moment her family gathered around and that was the end of our conversation, but as she left she turned to me and said, "you do understand about pronouncements don't you?"

That statement sounded very profound, so I wondered if Pronouncements held a theological meaning, or perhaps was a teaching held by certain folks. I've been thinking that it may be refering to a sort of self fulfilling propecy; I said it, so I believe it to be true, so it will probably happen. Anyway, that's just my thoughts on it! Can any one shed any light on this expression "Pronouncements?"

IIRC I was talking about my illness which struck two years ago and the fact that I'll be on medication for the rest of my life.

Hmm, writing that has just given me a thought; the lady said she was involved in a healing ministry in her younger days, I wonder if she would be thinking that God could heal me and I may not need the medication.

Eric in the context you described.

You made a pronouncement that God will not cure you. {stated a fact}
This would come from God sharing knowledge of Gods will for you in this. You may not be cured but God may give what you need for your well being.

Healing is more than curing- God can give skill to Dr's to know which drugs would help a person have a good quality of life and well being.
