  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My bf and I are going to one. Neither one of us went in high school, so we are going to our first prom together. :) I have my dress already; it's black, and I have long blonde and neon orange extensions for my hair. He bought a wacky, vintage suit. I'm really excited about it!

Anyone been to a prom for "grown-ups?"

Never heard of a "prom" for grown-ups... what sort of thing is it? Just a big party where everyone gets dressed up?

I went to my highschool grad, but we didn't call it prom- our parents came too... I think it's a little different than what people call "prom". We had dinner, then speeches and awards, and then a dance.

Nope never been to one, but it sounds like a lot of fun! My b/f was homeschooled, and we met in college, so he never went to a prom, but kinda wishes he had, so I hope someday theres a prom for grownups around us! I wanna go!

I hated my prom. I go to cocktail parties, which in my mind, are much more fun than prom..... mostly because there isn't anyone looking over my shoulder or asking me not to dance so close

Then you were lucky. I was only at mine for 10 minutes, if that. There was nothing there and an ugly plastic backdrop for pictures

It was at a local restaurant/sports bar. It's not a fancy place, but they decorated it pretty nicely, and they had the new addition finished with fireplace and everything. There was no cost to get in, which was nice because I know that "real" proms are super expensive. It was fun to see everyone dressed up.

I didn't get anything to eat though; I thought eating fries with my long gloves would've looked a bit tacky. :)

If you don't have an "adult prom" you can go to (I've never heard of them before!), it's always fun to have an extra special "dress up date" with your bf. Wear a prom dress (you can get them for cheap at the goodwill), go out to eat somewhere nice, and dance to music in your backyard! Way fun.
