Moriah,

the reason i said what i said was because earlier in this thread a mod, or somebody like that , said that there was link. so somebody, whomever it is/was, is providing false information. i happened to see that what was said was incorrect.

if they add our link fine, but if not, i want theres taken down.

i went over and looked in there forum. i saw nowhere where there is a link directing people to this forum for another side of adventism.

so, i would ask that the link here to there forum be taken down. it is only fair!!!

There will be when the FSGs are done. They are still in progress.

It's being discussed in the FSG thread for that forum. A link to the Traditional forum is included in the proposed FSGs, but we are waiting for more participation before stickying anything.

FYI, the new Progressive/Moderate/Former Adventist FSGs have now been posted as a sticky, including a link to the Traditional Adventist forum, as promised. Thank you for your patience while the FSGs were being discussed.

There shouldn't be a link to the progressive forum in here--period.

There is no need for one.

Well, this one thinks that a reciprocal link bes a good thing. That way people know what options bes available to them and if they do not feel comfortable with the beliefs or atmosphere of one forum they can try out the other.

But you bes entitled to your own opinion of course.

I agree Woob--I was never in favor of it and never will be. But since so many of them cannot stay away from our forum, I really think we need to make a stronger baiting and trolling rule.

There are no options WITHIN the SDA church as such. You either agree with the SDA message or you don't. Period.

Hence there is no need to have a link to the Progressive forum. And if you are going to use the argument of options then there should be a link to every other forum within every forum to give options for other faiths and beliefs to everyone. Otherwise the argument is moot.

BUT We all know WHY the link is REALLY there!

Do you? The link is there because *I* suggested it.

Look, I have no dog in the fight for separate forums or what you name them. However, I DO have a vested interest in making the FSGs clear for new members. That's part of my job, and why I've stuck my nose into the policies of this and all the other congregational forums.

Please understand; one of the main principles of web design is the link -- "Here is what you may be looking for. If you're looking for X instead, go there". For forums that are very closely related, like the Catholics and the Charismatic Catholics, and the Traditional and Progressive Adventists, there is a real need to provide members with their options.

CFers take our FSGs very seriously, and our congregational forums are safe-havens, and I really don't want new folks to get in trouble because THEY don't understand the years-long conflict between your two groups on this board.

The links aren't there for you! Nor for the progressives who were once a part of this forum. You all already KNOW where the other one "lives".

The links are there for the poor newcomer who is just trying to figure out where the best "congregational home" is for them.

I feel it was needed as everyone should be free to look at what is in CF with the best information we can give.

It also provides a clear alternative to those who do not agree or accept the SOF and be members, and that provides them with distinct options which they must decide on.

I apologize if I came across hastily, woobadooba. I was merely trying to explain where the link came from, and why it is there.

The FSGs are to define who can be a member in a forum. Members are those who agree with the forum's Statement of Faith, and determines those who can teach and debate.

When someone comes here, and agrees with your SoF, they can be members here. If they do not agree with your SoF, then you don't want them to debate here in the first place. It is better that they find a forum that fits their doctrines better.

On the other hand, someone coming into the Progressive forum and reading their FSGs might say "this is much too liberal, wishy-washy, new-agey for me" but not know where else to go. Providing the link to this forum allows that user to find a forum that fits their confessional, traditional doctrine better.
