Anyone here familiar with The Dixie Dregs? My dad has one of their records on vinyl. It's pretty good stuff.

I saw the Dregs open for Dream Theater once. The place was so small that Rod Morgenstein was off to the side and barely visible!

The real surprise to me was The Steve Morse Band who opened for Kansas back in 1991. The Dregs bass player Dave LaRue was in the band too. They absolutely blew the audience away. The newspaper listed their opening set as one of the top concerts in their year-end list.

I saw the Dregs open for Santana many years ago. Had a front row seat and got one of Morgenstein's drum sticks! Saw Steve Morse years later in Deep Purple - he seemed to enjoy that gig more than playing with the Dregs.
