  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm curious why would you not want to be identified?
I mean an artist being known seems like a good thing to me.
I am sorry, but satisfying curiosity is not a recommended way to salvation. I am not looking for recognition in this forum. Please respect my boundaries. I want to maintain my privacy. Thanks.

That's alright, sorry if I seemed like prying. It was not meant to be as such.
I guess my curiosity came from more the reason that I paint and sculpt and I find it hard to have people notice, so it got me wondering why one would not want that. But I won't pry, it just seems confusing to me.

I am sorry, I don't want people to notice me on the internet. There is somewhere I post where I show my work where I don't mind being noticed, but that's with other artists. I noticed there are galleries here. You might wish to show your work there.

Well, if you want to get into art professionally I would get out of your mindset of not showing off your art. The art business is cut throat, and in order to improve and get a job you need to learn to receive critique and to present what you can do. I'm currently working on my way to a job as an animator for either games or film. I've been doing private commissions on the side for a few years as well. We're not in the medieval times anymore, and now it is almost a given that an artist has a digital portfolio at the ready, whether it's through their own website or a site such as Deviantart or Epilogue.
You won;t learn anything if you just lock yourself up in your little bubble, where your art is most likely praised and your talents god-given.

It is because of messages like that that I don't want to expose my art to this forum. I have a Deviantart, and other sites, I am trying to maintain my anonymity on this site. I don't have many anonymous sites and I treasure the ones I have. I am sure you can understand that. I am not looking for a job with an animation company.

I don't think he meant that in a bad way. It sounded like helpful advice from one artist to another.

Your first post said if you showed a piece of your art here that you couldn't show it anywhere else. Why? Just to maintain your anonymity? Or is there a forum rule saying that?

Is there a forum for professional artists? I didn't see one in the professions forum. Also, I am afraid to show my art, or my picture, or even my church because I do not want to be identified. If I show a picture here, I can not show it anywhere else. :swoon:
Nope, not here there isn't. I don't think that there are many professional artists here anyway. Look at the gallery here, there are a handful there in the art forum gallery. Would be nice to have such a forum here though, I was pushing for a digital art forum about a year ago, but really meant for all levels of digital art production. btw you didn't mention what type of art, so I cant refer you to a community.

As for posting art here, lots of stuff I never post here. Most of the stuff I post here (I mean around CF) is often CF specific stuff or desktop wall paper images I give away. I mostly make art for video games, mostly freelance, besides working on my own commercial project. I rarely post game art here, but I do make other digital art in mind for CF, is that what you mean? I really don't post stuff for critique, everyone has an opinion, and not always right. Mark of an artist I guess ;) But posting something is good, even if only a glittery, spinning morphing CF logo under a disco light :D
At least then we could recommend a forum as you requested...

Hallo Lookbeautiful

Well there are places like the satchi online gallery but that comes with a BUT, you can loose the rights to the piece of work that is displayed there and I urge you to read very carefully the small print in ANY profesional 'online gallery'. Some of the fully profesional artist I am friends with have had a few problems with 'galleries' managing their work. (I only do work as my studies and other work allows these days)

I used to produce more work than I do now; these days the art work I produce tends to be for liturgical purposes or illustrative for a project/work I find I can agre with. I tend to be red ot on checking who owns the rights to said work when it is completed too. I get commisions from word of mouth and I think I shall stick to that.

The art world is very cut throat; perhaps in a more ruthless way than the music industry, fine art can be very strange and graphics does seem like it is a meatmincing industry.
