  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's really hard being in taht state of mind, I have been there a few too many times (http://www.christianforums.com/t1851886-all-of-me-tell-me-what-you-think.html-- a song I wrote during one of those times) all I can say is : God knows where you are and if you LET Him He will carry you. I know this to be true, I wouldn't have survived almost 17 years of being a single mom otherwise lol

I did survive, and in the end.. I was blessed more than I ever imagined I could be. :) Hang on, Hon... it's worth it.

PM me anytime :prayer:

Snowy,
My heart goes out to you hon (((((Snowy)))))

Sometimes we think we have totally given something to God, when we really haven't. Giving something completely over to God is a very, very hard thing to do. Giving it up totally means you don't fret about it anymore. When we have totally and completely given it over to Him, there is a peace that fills us.

It is an easy thing to "say" we have given it to the Lord, but actually doing it, is not so easy to do. Sometimes it is out of habit (harboring, worrying), sometimes it is because it keeps us in our "safe" zone, and even when it isn't really a safe zone, it is a comfort zone. We get so used to hanging on to things, and we may give 75% to him, but we keep that other 25%. We have to give it up completely, 100%.

Fear can also be a huge stumbling block. Even when we think we are trusting in Him, fear hinders us. We can not have fear and faith at the same time. Not even a little bit. They are a contradiction of one another. Fear is absolutely no match for faith. Fear is powerless over faith, but the old buzzard faced crow devil, will use whatever weakness he can find to manifest the tiniest doubt we have into a fear that we sometimes don't even realize is there.

I will have you in my prayers that whatever is burdening you will be completely turned over to the Lord, and that He will fill you with a renewed energy and strength you have never seen before!
Bless you sister!

I've waited on God for many years for many things. Of course, I gave up my will for His will. It's not about me, it's about Him. I stopped worrying about things I can't control. I'm here for a short time only and I'm to do what He has commanded me. I hope 2 Cor. 4:17-18 will help. I'm reminded of it daily.

I agree about it being hard to hand everything over to God sometimes. This is hard especially when you tend to be a worrier (like me!).

I do think tho that you can have fear and faith at the same time. I have recently overcome some big fears of mine, and dang straight I was afraid, but also had faith and I got through it very well. Look at Jesus, in the Garden of Gesthemene (sp?) he was definately afraid, he even sweated blood he was in such a state of high anxiety, but he still of course had great faith, and tho he was scared his faith helped to see him through to the end where he did what he was meant to accomplish. I think that fear can be overcome by faith (your faith in God gives you the help you need to get over the fear or through the fear), but you can be afraid and still have faith and see it through.

 Hi Snowy, First, please DO NOT GIVE UP!!! The is EXACTLY WHAT the enemy of your soul wants. Just like Job, he is up there telling God you know what that Snowy I bet will give up on you...HA HA God...But God says oH NO...she won't she is struggling within herself, she has a good heart/integrity and all she needs is some growth, experience, cause she is HUNGER for more of me. She desires to be FREE INDEED! You know what dear Sister, not sure what all is going on...but when I read your post, I recall when I was around your age...I had SO MANY problems to be 'fixed', so many issues within my broken heart, childhood, rejections, fears, I was totally dependent on God. I was cleaning up the kitchen, and talking with God like you are. I recall saying, I want you to just clean me up, and do a healing. At the time, I was scrubbing on my stove metal plates, you know the silver ones that catches all the food/grease. They were blacked...and dirty...and God said to me, as I was scrubbing and getting very tired. He said its just like you scrubbing on that trying to clean it up, you get tired...and I can only do so much, so fast...cause I know how much you can take. WOW! He spoke so clear to me, just as if you and I were talking face to face. It helped me to understand with a picture, how much time He spends on every detail of our life. He won't be happy with your life some what cleaned...He desires and must have a vessel without spot or wrinkle. So my dear sister, resolve within your heart/mind that your in this walk till you die or He comes for you, learn to patiently wait upon the Lord....read Psalm 40, verse 1, "I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and He turned to me and heard my cry." Read it all....it's your promise! Tamara  praisingonpiano

Hi Snowy,

I'm going through something similar myself. It is really hard to give things over to the Lord. I remember vividly one occasion giving something over to Him, and straight afterwards thinking that I must remember how to do it because it felt so natural and left me with such peace. Once you have done it it is fine straight afterwards, but building up to do it is quite difficult.

It is not our job to hold onto things, to hold things together. The world might tell us it is - independence is highly valued - but God never created us to be independent from Him or others. Keep trusting in the Lord. I can't give you any advice other than that because I am still struggling with this myself. Keep trusting in Him because He loves you and cares for you.

Well...I haven't felt like "giving up" today...but I'm sure facing the same enemy over & over again...it is a battle to just stand & rest in Him...like climbing a high mountain to me...but He gives me level places to sit and rest periodically...then we move on.

This thread has been good for me tonight...thanks to every poster.

Don't give up because God never, ever is the God of giving up as He wants you to face your battles with Him and not by yourself!!

I dont agree with the 'let go and let God' mentality. All to often it means that things dont get done. I believe that God empowers us and subtly directs us. He doesnt want us to "hop in the back seat" while he drives. We must drive, whilst listening for his instruction.

I believe that as long as you take issues to him in prayer and you are open to his will, you should just do whatever seems best to you at the time. If God wants you to do any differently, he'll let you know.
