• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi I have a new computer since Christmas, it is Windows XP.

Recently we've been having problems where we can't print.
What can be wrong?

I looked at the help section at HP and it looks like the drivers are up to date.

Model number I believe is Emachines W3118
S/No: XX XXX XXX XXXXX

Getting closer. that is the model number for your computer, if you can look at the printer & tell me everyting on the printer itself, we might be able to get it going.

Also you may want to edit your post & remove the serial number ;) you really never need to post that info.

There will be a label of some sort on the printer, or a brand name and model number printed on it somewhere, probably on top. That's the info pgp_protector is looking for.

When you go to Start --> Settings --> Printers and Faxes, is your printer listed? Does it say it is Ready, or does it say Offline? If you right-click and get into your printer's Properties, can you print a test page?

Have you checked to make sure all the connections between the printer and the computer are tight?

Does the printer have power?

Ok here is the instructions for the self test for your printer

HP Site said:
Print a printer self-test by holding the power button down with a pencil and opening and closing the top cover four times. If one (or more) of the solid rectangular areas is missing or misprinted, a problem with the cartridge contacts is indicated.

FYI your printer model is HP Deskjet 3650 Color Inkjet Printer

Let us know what happens with this self test.

Also the faq & manual for this printer can be found at

The light is blinking. Does this mean anything?
Jan
That usually means that it's offline for some reason - paper jam, out of paper, out of ink, etc. Does your driver software have a status indication feature?

Our son helped us. I unplugged it, uninstalled the printer, re-installed the disk for the printer. I had an idea of what to do, just was not sure of the order and of course when to unplug the printer.
