  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am educated, thank you.

Even those who support Planned Parenthood and their barbaric acts admit that abortions happen there.

When I was a paramedic, I was called to Cherry Hill Women's Center several times, so I saw what went on there first hand.
I don't think she said abortions DON'T happen there, I think she said there is a lot besides abortion that goes on there.

I'm anti-abortion myself, but I recognise that misrepresenting the oposition only weakens our cause. Shall we stick to actual facts, and less misrepresentation, please?

Furthermore, zygote, blastocyst, embryo and fetus are specially ambiguous
There is nothing ambiguous about them at all.

5 minutes with a text book should remove the ambiguity for you... they are perfectly acceptible terms for refering to quite defined entities.

This sort of self-admitted "Amazement" is why I suggested you need to educate yourself about Christianity. You are apparently not cognizant of the fact most Christians are pro-choice and the "fetus is a person" position is a recent fiction in contrast to centuries of wisdom otherwise.

Overwhelmingly most christians are pro life , not pro choice http://www.religioustolerance.org/abo_hist1.htm Please educate yourself with the facts.

And further, that isn't what the linked article says at all... it comments on the stated position of a number of Catholic GROUPS... but it makes no attempt to actually provide a ratio of Christians as they are pro life:choice...

I'm not saying that your claim is wrong, necesarily... however, I don't think you should misrepresent evidence, saying it says something it doesn't.

Abortion is performed there; no "barbarous" acts are, however.

When I was a paramedic, I was called to Cherry Hill Women's Center several times, so I saw what went on there first hand.

Are you really saying that it's worse to kill an animal for food and clothing than it is to kill a baby for convenience?

The former is verifiable; the latter cannot be documented to occur except in the most sensational criminal trials. There is nothing in that regard occurring when abortion occurs, and the concept there is is indeed most unfortunate.

No matter what you choose to call them, they're still innocent little babies in the womb and it is wrong to kill them.

this is your opinion and you have indicated it is based on emotionalism. Your statement is as valid as saying we shouldn't kill rats in buildings because they're oodly-oodly sweet like Mickey Mouse.

What do you think the purpose of the bible is?
You are taking Pascals wager there.

You confuse (your personal) interpretation of your holy book with objective reality (if such a thing exists).

mirepresented? I gave a link to the article , anyone can read it and decide for themselves. Lynn made the claim MOST christians are pro choice , i do not see anything backing that statement , so was it a misrepresentation?
Unsupported assertion, possibly.

Yes, you DID give a link to an article, and anyone CAN read it for themselves... my issue is that you said something about the conclussions the article draws that arent ACTUALLY what it draws...

Again, I'm not saying you are wrong... I'm just saying the article doesn't say what you said it said.

To be brutally honest I doubt anyone could really state definitively either way what MOST Christians stance on abortion is... there seems to be a real tendency to pigeon hole people in either black or white postions on the matter, and very little room for the myriad "shade of grey" PsOV out there

Negros were considered to be only 3/5 human.

In the same way, Hitler justified killing Jews by claiming them to be "sub-human", and crippled people by declaring them "useless eaters".

So, justifying such acts by attempting to define away the humanity of the victims is a long tradition.

This is all nice but has no relevance to this issue.

Lynn, want to answer the other question i asked you? Id also like to see your evidence that most christians are pro choice - since you did make that claim (wholly unsupported at that) In fact you insisted a person here was unknowlegable about the "facts" of it -yet ive seen no substatiation for it. Are we to take your word for it?
