  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello all,

I was watching EWTN over at my girlfriends house for a bit (since I dont get it at home) and heard a commercial advertising for saying the Rosary for the pro-life movement, especially for a specific Supreme Court ruling (please fill me in on the details). (not sure when this was being done, but it sounded like a good idea)

Anyways, on to my suggestion. In doing our part in prayer, I suggest that we here at CF say the Rosary daily, as well as fast during the day (that or abstain from meat) for a week.

Would anyone else be interested in doing this? Just an idea to throw around, I know Ill definately say the Rosary daily and will probably abstain from meat for a week.

God bless,

Oops, I almost forgot this prayer I found over at EWTN.com:

Prayer for the Helpless Unborn
Heavenly Father, in Your love for us, protect against the wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones to whom You have given the gift of life.

Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant in our world today who are not thinking of motherhood.

Help them to see that the child they carry is made in Your image - as well as theirs - made for eternal life.

Dispel their fear and selfishness and give them true womanly hearts to love their babies and give them birth and all the needed care that a mother can give.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen.

For anyone who is interested, I think we should start on Sunday the 25th (since its a tad late for this week) and go until next Saturday the 31st. Fasting would be a bit hard for me too, as Ive never done it for that long, but meat I could do.

God bless,

Edit: dates were wrong

Sunday the 24th sounds good. Couldn't have fasted last week. Last Saturday was my enormous (in number, not size!) family's annual Pasta Party. Together, we make all the cavatelli pasta, spaghetti, sauce, sausage and meatballs from scratch, cook it, and eat it all up! I love being an Italian Catholic! Life is good.
