  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have an HP Envy printer, and except for except for one instance, have always bought HP ink cartridges.

For that exception, I browsed on ink companies that sold compatible cartridges at lower prices, and I ordered. The ink quality and life of the experimental cartridge was about the same as with HP, but my printer indicator for ink remaining was way off: it was stuck at the half-way point for a good while and stayed that way when the ink ran out.

If any, what’s your experience with buying off-brand ink?

You can get refillable ink it's a lot cheaper. But usually Printers and ink are about the same price so I usually buy a new printer when my ink dries up.

We had a Lexmark printer a long time ago. Had our cartridge refilled some place once cant remember where. Might have been at Office Depot. They poked a hole in the cartridge to inject more ink. I remember it didn't print well and eventually leaked inside making a mess. I replaced that printer with an HP and it worked for a while, think these were inkjet printers. For some reason my HP printer doesn't feed the paper anymore. So now I am seeking out a new one with an integrated scanner.

I’ve been in denial about the comparable pricing between just getting new ink and a new printer for a long time. And most of this planet I suspect!

Yeah. It doesn't work for expensive printers but it works for the cheapest ones. I don't see the point in paying $30 for ink when I can get a cheap printer at Walmart for the same price. But if you paid $100+ I can see the point in buying a refillable cartridge.
