  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am not a fan of Keira Knightley.

There was already another movie made, staring Jennifer Ehle (Elizabeth Bennet) and Colin Firth (Mr. Darcy). I doubt they'll be able to top it. It was 5 hours long to include as much detail as possibe and it really felt like the right era.

I'm afraid in general that movies today modernize too many movies and I think they'll do the same here.

And I'm not impressed with Keira Knightley. Oh wait. I already said that. :p

I really suggest watching the 1995 version. It was wonderful (I paid $45 for it I liked it so much!)

There's a Bollywood version of "Pride and Prejudice" coming out. It's directed by the same person who did "Bend it like Beckham". Story's changed quite a bit, but it's a nice spin on a classic book ( which I found to be dull ). Aishwariya Rai and Martin Hendersen star, along with Naveen Andrews (ABC's LOST).

I'm dreading this, a bit - like Lizzi4Christ was saying, it'll be very hard to top the BBC version with Colin Firth in which was so much like the book.

I've seen Bride and Prejudice. That was a fun spin on the book though they ruined a lot of it!

I've not seen this version before. I'll try and see it some time, I like Colin Firth. The reason I'm excited about the new one though is because I like Keira Knightly.

Agree - I doubt that it is possible to make a better movie, version than the BBC version you mention.

I think I don't even want to watch any other version.

Are they really? I absolutely love "Pride and Prejudice." However, I admit I've never read the book, but I'd love to sometime. I've seen and own the Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehle version. I don't think I'd like this new version that's coming out, because I am not a fan of Keira Knightley...I don't know. I just don't care for her acting. Maybe once she gets a little older I'll like her more. Anyhow, I don't think I'll ever like any Pride and Prejudice version more than the Colin Firth one. *sigh*...I absolutely love Colin Firth, and he plays the best Fitzwilliam Darcy. Lol. :D In my opinion, of course.

I've read the book more than ten times. I tend to reread books a lot if I really like them. The first part is rather boring, especially the first time I read it, but I don't mind it anymore. It is a great book. I really want to see the movie with Colin Firth; everyone seems to love it.
