Yep, I have used a pressure cooker for the past 34 years and I wouldn't be without one. I have made everything from soups and stews to marmalade and rice pudding. I make my Christmas puddings in one every year.
:)

Always follow the makers instructions. I don't kow what make you have and I don't know if you have any specific queries. Just feel free to ask away.:)

Blessings

I have used them for canning during harvest, for about 20 years now. I know a lot of people are afraid to use them. To me it's just like anything else. If it's on the stovetop you pretty much have to keep an eye on it.

What are you planning to use it for?

Before we had microwaves pressure cookers were the way to make a quick supper. You can cook a chicken in nothing flat, and then skin it, debone it, pour a little BBQ sauce on it and oh my goodness! Not too bad.....

Really, it depends on what you want to make. If you put onions in as part of your recipe, really anything for that matter, be sure it is not on the top of the pot and interferes with your seal.

Also it you are cooking meat in one, you should let it depressurize itself without trying to speed things up by removing the gigolator weight or pouring water over it in the sink. If you do these things in may make the meat tougher. At least that's what Mama told me.

A pressure cooker can help make just about any cut of meat tender to eat. A roast in there with carrots, potatoes, onions, and a few tomatoes is a meal all in one pot. All you need is the cornbread. (Yummy!)

What do you want to make with it anyway?

I am absolutely hooked on pressure cookers. I use mine for canning also. A couple of things to remeber is most manufacturers recomend you never fill the cooker more than 3/4ths full. This is to allow for expansion during the cooking process. Also always make sure you have a good ring (also called a seal) and that you're using the propper pressure. Prsssure cookers are a real time and effort saver.

I love mine, how did I ever live without it. I just got one some months back. I got the book, "pressure cooking for dummies" and it has helped me alot. Plus both my Grandmother and Mother both use then, so I have got alot of pointers from then.

I have to admit I'm terrified of pressure cookers....I've heard too many bad stories...my grandmother always used one and the food was delicious I loved it but I am just too afraid to buy one and try to use it....
I was the same way, but I did some reading and found out that todays cookers are much better than years ago. They are made not to blow-up!!! You can not open them til they pressure down and if they get to much pressure they have a pop-off valve that will release the pressure. I am having so much fun with mine. I should have got one years ago.
