preserving nests

I found a couple of nests on the ground when walking around my current home.
I brought them in the house many years ago now.
I think my cat did get a hold of one of them - and I think I threw it out.

Is there something I should have done when I brought the nests inside to preserve it/them?

Shalack(sp) may work

Depending on the type of nest, (Wasp (Kidding) , mud, twig, mud & twig, ect), you will probable want some way to seal it to prevent fungus & rotting of the material that the nest was made of.

I don't have any perserving techniques..just a small amount of advice...I was notorious when I was little of finding things and bringing them home...one of my fave things were bird nests..I caught the mites from one..had to go to the doc to get rid of them...so be careful
