Presentation tomorrow

I am starting into a PhD program. I have had some anxiety issues for years, but am on medication and am able to handle it pretty well these days. But I have to present my current Masters thesis research to the lab that I am going into tomorrow, and am kind of nervous about it. For one thing, it is kind of complicated and it's hard to keep all the facts straight. I don't feel very prepared, either, and I don't know these people very well.

The group I will be presenting to includes a couple of people that already seem to look down on religion in general. So, whatever happens, I want to be a good witness to them. Reaching out to the academic community is one of my goals in going for a PhD.

I would like to request prayer about this. Whatever is needed to be a witness - and I realize that God can work even if I embarrass myself. Also, peace and courage would be nice.

And, more generally, pray for my colleagues to come to faith.

Sure will. If any of your peers are sceptical, point them to Professor James Tour. He has a great testimony and a brilliant career as a Synthetic Chemist. He is an active evangelist and has touched the lives of many in the academic world. He destroys the "Origin of Life" theories that abound in Scientific circles.

Sometimes a stealth approach is best. So would encourage you to asks for The Holy Spirit's direction.

Hello Sam,

The first thing that sticks out to me is the fact that you are in a PhD program - you're smart and more than qualified for this presentation! Also, based on what you've written here and the way you've written it, you seem to have a sweet, God-loving spirit. To top all of that off, God is with you. This presentation is no match for God - or you.

Lord, thank you for Sam's heart for his colleagues. Thank you that you have put him in a unique mission field, and you have given him a position and circumstances to be an effective witness in that field. Thank you that you have given him a spirit of power, love, and discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). Lord, please help him to remember You are the Rock he will stand on tomorrow during his presentation. Please help him to remember all that he needs to, and to not let worry or nervousness impact his mind. May his presentation be a success. Most importantly, may it be You his audience sees. Please make their hearts fertile ground for Your work. Amen.
