"Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.......which you have of God, and you are not your own? For you are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body - 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20.

These two verses may be paraphrased very simply into two brief sentences: first, the Lord Jesus wants your body that He may express Himself through it: second, He has every right to it In the preceding verses in this chapter we learn three great things about the body.

First, in verse 13, we learn that the body is for the Lord, that the Lord may be enthroned in it, giving love and finding responding love: and that the Lord may express Himself through it, because the body - this physical body - is for the Lord.
Secondly, we learn that this body is a temple, a sanctuary, or a shrine of the Holy Spirit. This body is not only for the Lord Jesus Christ, but also for the Holy Spirit, that He too may be enthroned there, that He may use our bodies as a launching platform, a bridgehead from which to reach out into other lives.
Thirdly, we find that this body is to be a platform or a vehicle for the glory of God the Father. This body is to be a platform in which the glory of God is to be seen, a platform on which it is God the Father's greatest delight to see the Son glorified - that is given a place of honour. The Lord Jesus can only express the lowliness, the humility, the gentleness, the sympathy, the tenderness, the compassion of His own yearning heart as our bodies are available to obey the dictates of that heart.

He can only express His pity, His love, and His great heart, through the hands, lips and eyes of some Christian.
