Yeah, Im pretty beat up too. Pins, plates. Name it. Never had an ear piercing. Blamed it on having so many holes from "worldly" events that piercings for art is for sissys. My knees, back and joints are what hurt me. Oh, forgot, I have a 44% disability in left arm from a minor disagreement. Plate and 8 screws where radius used to be. It's got a section of bone missing about the width of a 2x4. Lol. This was from an employee that I confronted about stealing from our family auto repair/machine shop who was my Pops brown noser. I told them for years about him and they thought he hung the moon. He was building rear ends on my time with my parts and delivering them at lunchtime. My folks never believed what I told them about every thieving weasel we had over the 35 years in business. I got a phonecall from one of my customers we traded with who ran a front end shop about a little whine (which is common in a new rear end with brand new ring n pinion gears) in the rear end he just built. Gotcha! When confronted, this 265 lb animal decided to pickup a 2x4 about four feet long against poor little me. I'm 6-3 @ 220 and quick like bunny. The darn fool threw the best lick I ever saw, then with one arm, I put a stomping on him that made the da n judge sick to look at the pictures. They ended up charging him with a class E felony that I had them to reduce to a misdemeanor and got him 25 days of picking up trash, in which I spent every single day driving behind him throwing beer cans out after he cleaned up a stretch, causing him to have to go back. That was the BEST 2 months of my life. It's cold, but it's fair I'd say. He started his back stabbing ways the first week he came to work for us and I figured 13 yrs were more than enough. It was worth the 4 surgeries to finally hear my old man say I was right. Sometimes justice comes at a high price.
Personally, I'm a yard sale/thrift store FREAK! Every thing I own or wear comes from one of the two, and I dress to the nines, btw. The only thing I spend big money on is footwear and helmets. Right now, I've only one pair of boots, one sandal and one pair deck shoes, but they are the best money can buy. I've got a big foot and bigger feet problems and good shoes are a must. I've stood on concrete 40 yrs and you can't skimp there. I have a man make me custom boots from molds of my feet, but affording it- well, it's been awhile. As far as helmets, you only buy a $50 helmet if you have a $50 head!
I've got this desk top here left over from my business and it's had more storage added internally. It's only a single core processor originally if that tells you how old it is. I've been gone from there 6 years and it was about 10 years old then. I only kept it because it has about 4000 pics of all my racing engines, parts, machine process and things like that I wanted to keep and I'd really like to write a book on real engine building technique. Those hotrod magazines are as misleading as an NIV and cost people loads of trashed engines due to their BS. All they are is a parts seller for the big companies. I've been lucky and actually written 11 articles in 7 different performance magazines over the years and been in a few engine building competitions that are "invite" only for the top 40 in the US. THAT is an honor.
Our amazing God blessed me with some amazing talent and I'm SO GLAD I'm beginning to finally use some of it for its intended purpose- HIS GLORY. While I wait on my next set of instruction, like you, I try to occupy, learn, share and make myself a better person. That's about all ya can do. Anything else is vanity IMO. PEACE be with you.
