  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is the order of service in a Presbyterian church like? Also, were Presbyterians throughout history strong in missionary work? Thank you.

Historically they have been very strong in missions.

Services some are low Church (almost Baptist like) others are very liturgical I think nmost are in between.

I prefer liturgical worship. I still attend Catholic and Baptist services fairly regularly (mostly because of family). On a scale of 1 to 10 (one being Baptist Worship and ten being Catholic Mass my PCA church would be about an eight.

Hope that helps.

Coram Deo,
Kenith

The services in the Presbyterian churches I've attended have been liturgical. I can close my eyes and see the order of worship in the Sunday morning bulletin (and I haven't been a member of a PCUSA for 30 years). While the church I currently attend has a set order for Lord's Day worship - it isn't quite the same. I love my church (both doctrinally and church family) but there are things from the Presbyterian worship service I still miss (congregational Lord's prayer, The Gloria Patri, The Doxology, the Apostle's Creed).

To the best of my memory - yes, Presbyterians have always served in the missionary field.
