• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi everybody! I'm new here and would like to express my joy about this forum! I'm sure it's helping many of us! I want to warn you in advance, that in this message I share some of my ocd-rituals and obsessions, compulsions, dreading...

I have suffered from moderate OCD, Tourette's and serotonin problem for several years.

First I'd like to ask you a question about getting yourself ready for bed at nights. I find it to be kind of stressful, because of using too much time and repeating things...However, I discovered a new way to dress clothes, but have succeeded only one time with it...I'm concerned about clothes being right way and have to check on the paper piece (where they tell how to wash a clothe). I tried only glancing on it and putting the clothe on. It worked!

I think I have too much things to do before getting to bed...and I'm also struggling a bit with dreading that, that I have to do them every evening...

I'm wodering if electric tooth brush would be helpful in brushing faster...

I also have a weird attitude about going to sleep...(I want to be energetic and feel good during he day...at the moment I'm lacking just a bit of good sleep, not a lot ,just an hour or so...)
I feel bad about going to sleep...I don't know why. Maybe...because I don't think I'm accompishing enough things during the day and I'm not relaxing enough either...so maybe I'm just dissapointed. Does anybody feel this way too?

Does somebody have advice for me? Thanks for your reply, already!

Yes, I can understand it...Before I liked to sleep longer in the mornings, it was very peaceful and nice...But now I'm waking up early, a little before 7, and I want to accomplish things and be satisfied. My ocd-situation is mild or moderate...so I can do many things at home...

I used to have that, folding clothes the right way, im not even gonna post things that i did with my sheets in my bed cuz i though that my family will get hurt if I dont. By finding ways around things you are not curing the problem just the outcome. There are so many Christians bound by this OCD junk, i know I used to have it, i used to have it BAD, I am afraid to list some of the episodes i had so it wont cause any1 else to have them, but i delt a lot with my death and death of my family if in fat i dont do what my mind is telling me. Jesus said that He will give you life more aboundant, but we must abide in him, anywho, I used to have heavy OCD, Hypohondria, fears and anxiaties, GUYS THERE IS HOPE, I am cured, please I want to share this with the world!

Whoever wants to talk to me can send me a private message.
God bless u all

Try to remember that imperfection is a part of a normal life. Try to concentrate on just what's necessary before going to bed like making the bed if it wasn't made, or brushing each side of your molars for 3 seconds each side, and that's it.

There's a necessary pattern we all have to do before going to sleep or after waking up in the morning, and that's not OCD. Try to imitate what somebody without OCD does before bed or in the morning, like a family member or a friend.

God Bless.
