I always felt the calling. I even had God tell me I was to do it through a dream. But I have just now began to seriously consider it.

I have no idea what to do. I don't believe in doing it in my own knowledge. I believe it must be God preaching through me. How can I know what is to be said? How can I know when to say it? And how can I be sure He will be the one and not me?

I am a quiet guy. I am not outspoken. And I am very shy. Plus I never was good at conversations let alone just coming out and preaching. Does anyone have advice?

Keep listening to God's still small voice. Feast on His Word and live the Word, then He will give you messages and opportunities to preach them! A youth group or teen centre are good places for a preacher in the making to gain experience.

Colossians 3:16-17 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.

1 Timothy 4:12-16 Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity...devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction.

Thank you for those verses! I trust in God to bring this thing to pass in my life. It may be a few years from now...but it will come. I plan to study diligently and pray more than I have been. I am happy to say also God has put someone in my life who is a great streangth to me and is encouraging me to follow this calling.

if it truly was your calling, you probably won't be able to get away.. :)
step forward boldly, looksgood!
LOL Thats not the first time I heard that. Someone once told me I would be a preacher with a wife who would be for my help. I didnt know if I should believe them but they pretty much said it came from God. Now I am starting to believe it. I always had the thought in my mind to preach.

But even more these days. I met someone that God had planed. We actualy left it to Him if we should pursue a relationship and asked for certain signs so that we would know it was from Him. Well we both seen the signs and are finding out we are perfect together. She told me the other night she already knew my calling before I told her. Said God layed it on her heart to encourage me in it. So God is being very good to me. And I am finding so much more strength now because He sent me help:bow: .

Please pray for me that I will learn how to let God open my mouth.
Your request is scriptural and I believe He will answer your prayer.
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, Eph. 6;18, 19 (KJV).
May God bless you as stay close and obey his voice.

Matthew 10:19-20 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what you shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what you shall speak. For it is not you that speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks through you.

This is written in the context of persecution, but the same falls true for preaching. Some take this meaning that you don't need to prepare, which is not true. A good preacher searches the Word and meditates on it. But when the time comes to preach, some times the Spirit will take you in a different direction. Regaurdless, when you preach the Word, it is God working through you to reach of others. It is not you who touches the hearts of others but God who works through you.

Today in church they were singing. The sang about God counting on someone to preach to the world. My pastor doesn't know I been thinking bout this. But he came to me in the service and said it was my song. God keeps on confirming this.

That's awesome. I've been told you get confirmation internally as well as externally. I'm praying that God will confirm my internal desire to go to my church's equivilant of bible/leadership training school through people.

Preaching is a very serious undertaking. Those who preach and teach are judged more harshly then those who don’t. When I got my call to preach I was just as you are shy and not very outspoken on certain issues. God doesn’t call the equipped he equips the people that he calls. The first step is to make it know that you feel that you have a calling to be a minister. Once you have don’t that I’m sure there is some kind of training that you church has set up for ministerial candidates. Preaching is something that doesn’t just happen over night. Most preachers start preparing a sermon for Sunday on Monday. What that means is that from Monday to Saturday the minister is in prayer, study and just communicating with God about the message that is to be delivered on Sunday. I believe sincerely that God calls ministers for every time. What do I mean by that? Young ministers are called to reach young people. Whereas older ministers are called to reach some of the more mature people out their. If you have any questions feel free to Pm me.
